I’m very aware of the recipient of the epistle, and am making a general application of those who are brought up in similar homes; homes that have been taught by the Spirit (1 Jn 2; Eph 4)—you can count on that.
Nah, you really don’t. Because Paul was speaking to a newly established shepheard and teacher of the True Faith. Are you that?
Are you disagreeing with Paul’s statement in 2 Tim 3:17? ISTM that you are.
**You think that because you think anyone can decide for themselves that they are a teacher of the True Faith. Paul disagrees. **
That’s what you believe, but how do you know that what you believe is correct?
Because I am a member of the community that Jesus started and they teach what Timothy learned from Paul.
After all, you’re the one who stated that one must have the authentic meanings of words; didn’t you say that?
exactly
That implies that you don’t know what is the authentic meaning of scripture and history, and yet, you claim that the church that you’ve chosen does; but, how do you know that if you don’t know the authentic meaning of the words of Scripture for yourself?
**Truth came to us in flesh and blood. **
**Tell me when did that seize to be? **
That’s the conduit of Christ’s Spirit, Life and Salvation. That is Christ’s Body. I receive the authentic meaning of Sacred Scripture from the community that gathers around Christ since the beginning. No you are the one who must say that Truth has no witness on earth because you believe the True Faith was lost.
You believe authenticity in regards to Scripture is relative I don’t.
ISTM that my questions make you uncomfortable, but you’ve put yourself on the spot with the philosophizing you’ve done in the posts to which I’ve responded.
**No, you aren’t making me uncomfortable. Believe me your questions aren’t new ones. I do think you should be reminded ( again) of the quote you wrote. **
