Is there anything in the bible that would describe jesus physical appearance?

Not in the Bible. However, if the Shroud of Turin is indeed genuine, it would provide an accurate portrayal.
 
Like a Jewish. Mary was from Jerusalem, right? the capital of Israel, so their physical appearance (features) was Jewish-like…

Please correct me if I’m wrong.
 
Jesus certainly was not a white guy as portrayed in western european and north american portraits and the images we find in most traditional churches. That image of Jesus is a tired story, it is old and tied to an age of a traditional catholicism that was complicit in the colonization of the globe, promoted western superiority and finally, the “white Jesus” in traditional catholic imagery is just simply not historical fact but a monopolization of the Jesus image by western society.

He was obviously Korean in appearance… does it really matter at all? Every ethnic group imagines Jesus as themselves in appearance and the truth is, Jesus does represent all of us and should appear to resemble the entire world. You should spend less time worrying about whether Jesus looked like a Jew, Arab, or whatever and focus your attention on his teachings.

Ah, but Boo, if that was the simple case there would be no problem. The image of Jesus is important, but it is a foreign image to all of us. The Catholic Church has always held that images are useful as teachers of the image…I love the pictures of a gentle white Jesus herding sheep, that’s not at issue; that is an appropriate image for western peoples who are of caucasian ancestry.

For us who are not white, it is only a reminder of colonization and shame, etc., that we were taught to have by the early missionaries, etc. The multicultural and cosmic images of Jesus emerging since Vatican II allow us to remove the monopoly of the western white Jesus image and allow Jesus to be a part of our own communities and values. This is important to loosen up and open the hearts of my people, myself and others who are not white…to the message of Jesus that you correctly point out.

The other thing is that until the 60’s I don’t think it was allowed to have non-white images of Jesus (I’m not 100% certain on that, cause we have the Black Madonna, etc.)…and that too is a product of colonial oppression.

One thing I truly believe is that Jesus looks just like his mom, Mary.

It describes Jesus as having golden colored hair.

I think (and this is my own humble opinion) he was not white at all. Since Mary is His human mother, he more than likely favored her. In my mind, I picture Him as looking arabic.
 
He would have loiked like a male version of Mary since He had only her DNA. Gemetically they were probably akin to twins.

Can’t say that. Perhaps the Holy Spirit had more epigenetic influence than normal DNA.

Um… how many Semitic men of the time had golden hair and blue eyes? I would guess none?

So I guess the Shroud is a hoax?

“He is the picture of his mother, only he has not her smooth, round face. His hair is a little more golden than hers, though it is as much from sunburn as anything else.”

This is a First Century description in the Archko Volume translated by Drs. McIntosh and Twyman of the Antiquarian Lodge, Genoa, Italy, from manuscripts in Constantinople and the records of the Senatorial Docket taken from the Vatican of Rome (1896) 92-93

Are you disagreeing with the consensus of anthropologists as to the appearance of a typical Semite of this time, or are you saying that Jesus was a special exception?

Well, they called him Son of David, and according to the Bible, King David had red hair. There are two 1st Century eye accounts with Jesus having golden hair. The man in the shroud had blonde hair.

The only details from the Gospels are few and far between: Jesus was a man, he had scars from the crucifixion after he was resurrected, he was identifiable as a Jew (to the Samaritan woman), and by inference, he looked like any other average, healthy man.

The rest – his height, weight, hair colour, eye colour – is not considered relevant to the story.
