Good Morning!
Would they know what they are doing?
It’s really too bad that you saw it that way. What would it take to change your mind about it being so “loaded”?Perhaps for you, there were no strings, but for me, it seemed like an effort to have non-Catholic views accepted as Catholic. Later, more and more strings became attached to it.
Yeah, the more meanings that got loaded into it, and the more negative appraisals on my character for declining the further away I became.
As you may recall, I apologized for any disrespect communicated in my asking for a handshake. In addition, I apologized for any hurt I may have caused. Do you forgive me?I see that. I see that you have different ways of demonstrating your disrespect and approval. I gave many examples in post 154 of things I found uncharitable, disrespectful, and hurtful. As it stands, it appears what you consider disrespectful has more value and importance than what I find hurtful.![]()
Do you “want” to think your views are Catholic? If your answer is “Well, my views are Catholic”, how would you feel about that? Would you like to have someone constantly telling you and everyone listening that your views are not Catholic?I am not sure if we have the same person in mind, but people who want to think their views are Catholic, and are repeatedly told they are not do tend to get very defensive.
Yes, a better behavior would be one that is loving, charitable, respectful. It would be a behavior that honors people, not dishonors. This is why I say that knowledge about what the Church teaches does not necessarily make anyone a “better Catholic”. That knowledge does not always translate itself into behavior.
Actually, the list I asked for was all the things that you think I am saying that you see as non-Catholic.I started listing before you encouraged me to make a list.
This, guanophore, is a claim that you know what I am thinking, which is considered uncharitable on the CAF.I am doing the list for neither reason. I recognize that you will feel dishonored by me no matter what I do, unless it is complete compliance with your wishes.
Would you find that a person refusing to shake hands with you off-putting too? How about if they were to repeatedly call your views “non-Catholic”?I find mean comments off putting. Once someone has been mean, I am less likely to give much credence to what they say.
Would they know what they are doing?
