Understood. It is the Sanctuary Lamp. Yes, we do the same, but if we genuflect, it is to the Tabernacle. The lamp merely indicates the PResence in the Tabernacle.
I checked the home page for that church, St. PAul’s. It sounds a little like mine, but I note that they use the 1979 Book of Prayer. Usually a bad sign.
The ruling on Anglican Orders was Apostolicae Curae, 1896, over Leo XIII’s signature. It is a hobby of mine.

Lol. Thought we cleared those up last few centuries. We Never bow to candles, nor do we worship Statues. lol. St Paul’s Anglican Haymarket will require a longer, more detailed visit. It began in 1800 as a local courthouse, etc, and the Basement was probably once a jail. The Walnut Trees are Original, not genetically altered. Problem is the buts spoil quickly, before ripening.
What form does the Traditional Anglican Host have? Wafer also?
Am Very Ecumenical. We had our First Regional Ecumenical Pre-Scripted Word/Worship of WCC/Vatican. Was Lucky to add 5 of the 8 Ministers, Priests. Felt best about getting AME. Love their AMEN Nods. Next year at local Baptist Church. The Priest from St Paul’s Anglican was Very Welcomed last second addition. Am trying to find time to Attend Their Sunday Service, all as just observer.

Absolutely absurd, Jane, when you did the exact same thing to me. I shared nothing secret about you save the fact that you have kids that attend a Catholic school and that you have taken communion in that same church’s school. You’ve said that on other boards, not in private. I fail to see how that’s a breach of trust. I haven’t told many things you’ve said. But you called me to the carpet as being ignorant, angry, and a whole slough of other things. I simply pointed out that it doesn’t make sense from your end to bash the Catholic Church as a group of dumb drones that don’t know how to be intimate with their spouses without a Pope directing us how to do so and that we have little initiative of our own without the Vatican and then you turn around and take communion in that same church? Then sending your kids to that church makes even less sense? I’d never send my kids to a church I loathed and didn’t respect and I definitely wouldn’t take communion in it. Communion is the ultimate sign of a spiritual agreement and oneness with the theology and beliefs ot that church. You accused me of hypocrisy and I agree that I’ve been guilty. I sold out my values and my sense of truth to go the Anglican church so I wouldn’t have the pesky difficulties of being Roman Catholic. I also didn’t want to have to face some realities about Church teaching that my wife and I found difficult. I sold-out my faith. Guilty. You’re right. I was simply pointing out that your parents are Catholic (which you’ve also mentioned on boards, not just in private), your kids attend Catholic school and you’ve approached our altar and taken communion all the while putting Catholicism in a very lousy light as well.
Need I remind you that you used the following words on me in your previous two posts: drivel, intolerant, ignorant, petty, hardly flattering words. And your insinuation that I’m so foolish and confused that I’ll only end up going back to Anglicanism again was equally insulting. I guess you and I just need to agree to disagree. I find very little redeeming or worthwhile in Anglican theology. Some of the people are great. But the institution and beliefs are dangerous. I pray that more Anglicans will leave and become Catholics. I also hope that instead of realignment, Anglicans will come home to Rome…Happy Advent and sorry we had to have this tiff.

You and I both left the same theologically and spiritually toxic environment and came into the Catholic Church.
I assume you’re happier now that you’re in full communion with the See of Peter. I sure am. It’s very comforting to have that security and sense of continuity with the past. To be able to be absolutely sure of the truth of your Church’s teachings is a beautiful gift from the Holy Spirit.
What I mean is that it can come across like you’re trying to justify leaving Anglicanism or taking out some anger that you’ve pent up by attacking it with such vigor. I’m not saying we shouldn’t criticize TEC or the horrible things it’s doing, but when we just let it rip every chance we get, the real message tends to get lost. If we can’t talk to reasonable folks like emeraldcoast without it turning into a brawl, then what sort of example of Catholicism are we?
Perhaps at that point, it’s best to step back, disengage, and look ahead (concentrate on something going on in Catholicism) rather than back (at Anglicanism) and let the dead bury the dead.

As far as I know, no one genuflects to candles. I read your first post, on St. Paul’s Church, as saying they genuflected to a red Eucharistic candle. Which I am sure is not the case; they are genuflecting to the Tabernacle on the Altar, and the consecrated Blessed Body in it.
Yes. Any Anglican Host, whether in a traditional Church, or otherwise, is going to look like your Host. Small, round wafer, or larger priest’s Host.

Gotcha. Thanks, Chris. Actually I’m not taking out ANY anger at all against Anglicanism. I’m not angry about it. I’m not any angrier about Anglicanism than I am the other denominations. What bothers me is what I SAW in the Anglican church. I described what I saw and then I got lynch-mobbed for saying it. And if you look back, it was Emeraldcoast who attacked me first. I made a lot of statements about Anglicanism and a few folks didn’t like it. You make a valid point that I use a bit too much “vigor” and fire but trust me, I’m really not angry. I find the notions of female priests, moral relativism, cohabitation, and divorce to be really repugnant. I know of no denomination that seems to justify and defend these issues more than the “piskies” as you put it lol…I just get juiced up about it.
Catholicism DOES have a million things about it that are amazing and wondrous. It is a stunning faith and I’ve always marveled at the truth and beauty that it has brought to the world. Sometimes I get a little too caught up in defending it and debating people of other denominations. As some of my kids in class say, “true dat.” lol
I need to read people better, that’s my weakness. Some people are open to the Catholic Church as protestants and there is hope that they might convert and want to grow as people. Some folks want a status quo and to feel cozy and warm with “the world.” As Jesus said, “I am not of the world.” I need to better assess those people who are receptive and those stubborn folks who have already decided they hate Catholicism and are just here with an agenda.
BTW, sci-fi geek!? Way to go! If it’s X-Files, Star Wars, Star Trek, Dune, Kolchak, Battlestar or otherwise, I’m there baby!!

You’re “judging” my sci fi choices eh? Dude, I’ve read a heap of sci-fi. We were talking sci fi movies and tv I assumed, right? I have read plenty of Frank Herbert and Bradbury, Heinlen and others, Asimov, etc. Come on man! What’s wrong with my TV/Movie choices? If you don’t like the X-Files, Trek, Star Wars, you CAN’T be considered a sci fi fan, man!! I mix the movies with the books, it’s all good as my students say!

I hate to admit it, but I actually enjoyed watching the LOTR movies better than I did reading the books, specifically The Two Towers. That book bored the heck out of me. Treebeard talked for like 30 pages, man! I got root-rot listening to it! I really love Tolkien but he wasn’t a details man. He’d mention a battle was about to take place and then it was over in one page lol.There are sci-fi BOOKS??
Next thing, you’ll be telling me they did a novelization of the Lord of the Rings movies…
Dune is my favorite novel and series of books in general. I could read it over and over…hence the name!

Nope not judging your SF (Ackerman’s “sci fi” never caught on with the true SF fen). Just observing that your stated choices lacked the print dimension.
Me, I started reading Asimov’s juveniles, and the Winston SF series, back around 1954. Been reading and collecting steadily ever since. Go to the occasional SF-oriented movie, sure, but, usually, find them lacking, as opposed to the literature.
As to those movies you list above, they’re a mixed bag. X-Files I found terminally boring. Star Wars and Star Trek, reasonably fun, and I’ve met most of the major players from them, at SF cons.
And I find no SF movie to match something like A CANTICLE FOR LEIBOWITZ, or THE MOTE IN GOD’S EYE (for two examples.
It’s apples and kumquats, I know. But generally, the book achieves more than the tape, IMO. And certainly the choice is far wider. My SF/fantasy book collection runs around 5000 plus. My SF tapes/DVDS more around 100.
But to each his own.

I loved the LOTR movies. I think the books are my favorites, of all literature. I used to read them once a year, from around 1965, to around 1974.
I made it through DUNE and DUNE MESSIAH, and perhaps 1/3 of CHILDREN OF DUNE; that was it. Not my cuppa.

Actually if you look up the catechism it says the greatest sci fi movie of all time is The Road Warrior! lol:thumbsup:

I’ve gone to a few Trek conventions and met a lot of the original and TNG actors. Deforest Kelley, Dr. McCoy, was my favorite.
I also liked the short-lived horror/sci fi series “Kolchak the Night Stalker” that came out in 74. That was such a fun show. The “Night Stalker” pilot was really cool with the vampire in Las Vegas! Had to love that one!
I can’t believe you didn’t like the X-Files! GKC, you lost points with me on that one and then being all the way with Dune, brutha! lol:shrug: Now get with the program! My wife is really an X-Files fan so I won’t tell her you said that! lol
You have to remember, I’m age 33. I grew up in the 80’s and as a little kid loved the mid to late 70’s shows in reruns. I liked Buck Rogers and Battlestar because I was a little kid and they were fun. I watch them with my kids out of nostalgia. They’re not heady and cerebral but fun.

In the Church of England generally people refer to the minister as ‘Vicar’ and would say ‘Hello Vicar’.
In some anglo catholic parishes they are refered to as father, but as in England the majority of priests are vicars, this is the best term. In a formal occasion where surname is to be used then it would be Reverend ______ or Father _______.
But ‘Vicar’ (no surname) is the norm.
