I have been raised Southern Baptist, and although there is no alcohol in my home and my mother does not drink (my father rarely does–but not at home) some Baptists do drink. Most Baptists refrain from drinking because alcohol affects your actions and can mess with your judgements. I understand why most Baptists do not drink; it could lead you down the wrong path if you have an addictive personality. Plus, I’m pretty sure most Baptists would agree that they believe that they don’t need alcohol to have fun or relax. I am under the legal drinking age, and have never had a sip of alcohol, but I don’t think there is anything wrong with alcohol. As long as it is not abused. There’s nothing wrong with wine, but once you get drunk, that is a sin.
“Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler; whoever is led astray by them is not wise.” ~Proverbs 20:1 (NIV)
