Why don’t you start different threads on the topics you want to be discussed. I’m sure there will be many contributors.

Perhaps. But you can’t argue against abortion as murder in one sentence and argue for the death penalty in the next. Life is sacred. All life. And yes, I have trouble with this sometimes, but this is a belief that I hold on many levels. Life is not ours to take. Each time a life is taken, it is a sad, sad thing.

I understand what you’re saying. Sometimes I’ve been astonished that my eyeballs don’t actually roll out of their sockets and drop on the floor! :hypno:

And I agree with another poster who suggested that you introduce threads about topics that you’d like to explore. The thing is, we all have the right to free speech. If I’m bored with some of the topics I can do my part by posting others. And sometimes when we do, nobody responds. That’s to be expected and it’s okay.

However, I too long for a little more depth and a little less triviality at times.

I think you are confusing ‘depth’ with reverential tone. The founder of your religion used very simple parables and stories and trivial objects (five fishes, a mustard seed, coins) to illustrate his points. I think my sugar-free gum fits into the same tradition of argument, although I am not claiming to be on the same level as your founder as a communicator, or anything else!

Sorry. I wasn’t actually dissing your contributions - re sugar-free gum. Instead I was referring to the endless(!) threads about the way people dress at Mass, contemporary music at Mass, is this (to most people, trivial) thing a sin, the way people choose to pray, who to vote for and is the President evil and a US citizen or just evil, and not going to even go into the whole SSPX issue, ad infinitum stuff that seems to occupy a large percentage of the threads posted.

I hope that was somewhat clear. 🙂
