how can one state they believe everything the church teaches as infallible when one may not know what the church teaches exactly.

what is the true policy? like the example in the video, the catechism states one thing on the death penalty but catholic bishops take a different stance.
In the video in post 58, Tim Staples rightly says that Catholics are free to disagree on the Church’s stance on capital punishment because it is not Dogma.
eating meat on friday for years was such a grievous fault one could not take communion on sunday if they ate meat on friday. now it isn’t.
I disagree with George Carlin when he says “How’d you like to do eternity for a beef jerkey?” This was a practice just like it is a practice now during lent. I don’t know that it was ever considered a mortal sin in and of itself.
was the catechism changed? what about those who died under this sin? what is their fate now.
The basic beliefs of the Church have not changed. Church councils have defined and clarified these beliefs based on opposition. For instance the council of Nicaea formed the belief about the Trinity as a response to Arianism. So, the same question can be applied to this, what of the Christians who followed Arius but died before the council of Nicaea? The safest thing is to realize that the Church does not send anyone to Heaven or Hell. The Church does sot say that any act will DEFINITELY send you to Hell.

It’s incumbent on one to find out, with the underlying philosophy/theology that the Church is guided by the Holy Spirit.
No the bishop’s agree with the catechism.

I think you are mistaken.

Again, you are misinformed about basic Catholic teaching.
if the church has the keys and makes the rules why are the rules so complex?
It really isn’t. Rules are for lawyers and criminals. Following the practices in love is not complex.

Complex? What exactly is complex? Life is more complex than church.

I haven’t forgotten to respond to you, but I have ran out of time tonight. Hopefully I have more time tomorrow to post my response to your questions.

“Do you reject Satan, and all his words?” I had to say “I do” to become Catholic. More than that, but that sticks out the most.

It has NEVER been the teaching or practice of the RCC to demand “everything” Rome or Bishops say is “INFALLIBLE”. INDEED much being said is NOT

FROM FATHER HARDON’ S CATHOLIC DICTIONARY

INFALLIBILITY. Freedom from error in teaching the universal Church in matters of faith or morals. As defined by the First Vatican Council, “The Roman Pontiff, when he speaks ex cathedra – that is, when in discharge of the office of pastor and teacher of all Christians, by virtue of his supreme apostolic authority, he defines a doctrine regarding faith or morals to be held by the universal Church, by the divine assistance promised to him in Blessed Peter, is possessed of that infallibility with which the divine Redeemer willed that his Church should be endowed in defining doctrine regarding faith or morals; and therefore such definitions are irreformable of themselves, and not in virtue of consent of the Church” (Denzinger 3074).

The bearer of the infallibility is every lawful Pope as successor of Peter, the Prince of the Apostles. But the Pope alone is infallible, not others to whom he delegates a part of his teaching authority, for example, the Roman congregations.

The object of his infallibility is his teaching of faith and morals. This means especially revealed doctrine like the Incarnation. But it also includes any nonrevealed teaching that is in any way connected with revelation.

The condition of the infallibility is that the Pope speaks ex cathedra. For this is required that: 1. he have the intention of declaring something unchangeably true; and 2. he speak as shepherd and teacher of all the faithful with the full weight of his apostolic authority, and not merely as a private theologian or even merely for the people of Rome or some particular segment of the Church of God.

The source of the infallibility is the supernatural assistance of the Holy Spirit, who protects the supreme teacher of the Church from error and therefore from misleading the people of God.

As a result, the ex cathedra pronouncements of the Pope are unchangeable “of themselves,” that is, not because others in the Church either first instructed the Pope or agree to what he says. (Etym. Latin in-, not + fallibilis; from fallere, to deceive: infallibilis, not able to deceive, or err.)

The “Church” here meaning the RCC Magesterium has not to my knowledge made a clear and binding ruling on this issue. So at this point at least everyone is ONLY sharing their OWN opinion; which they ALL are permitted to do. …WITHOUT such a foundation opinions are just and and ONLY personal opinions.
eating meat on friday for years was such a grievous fault one could not take communion on sunday if they ate meat on friday. now it isn’t.
Here MY FRIEND you have fallen into a very common Protestant TRAP:) NOT understanding that the RCC has Doctrine and PRACTICES… Doctrines are unchangeable & PRACTICES ARE CHANGEABLE:thumbsup:

The DOCTRINE of no meat [conditionally…age / illness] on GOOD Friday though is retained.
GOD WILL, BECAUSE GOD MUST
Pass final judgment on every human soul based NOT on their desired, accepted beliefs; RATHER it will be as it MUST be based on what He [GOD] has made possible for that soul to KNOW accept and believe… … so what you presume to have been MORTAL sins were not according to your examples
if th e church has the keys
and makes the rules why are the rules so complex? end quote

First: NO “IF” here:)

Mt 10:1-3
Mt 16:15-19
John 17:17-20
Mt 28:19-20
Eph. 2:20-22
Eph 4:1-7 RIGHLY UNDERSTOOD BUILD AN UNBREAKABLE; UNDENIABLE CASE:thumbsup:

As to the issue of complexity:)

The RCC is some 2,000 years old with One BILLION plus world wide members.

OT Judaism has some 613 COMMANDMENTS

The Bible has HOW MANY pages with How MANY teachings per page?

Catholicism is NOT all that complex: it boils down to “Doing what the Catholic Magisterium” teaches and commands… THAT takes humility and FAITH:thumbsup:

AND THAT IS PRECISELY WHY AND HOW the RCC after 2,000 years still has JUST ONE set of Faith beliefs:)

THANKS for asking

GBY
Patrick
