What do Mormons REALLY Believe?

Since God is in charge of deciding Male or Female at conception, does He have so much trouble making enough men to go around that He has to resort to polygamy for every woman to have a husband?

Or is it simply that God has trouble making enough men who believe, and that women are a bunch of mindless sheep who will believe whatever their husbands say, so the few believing men have to take all the wives they can grab?

Personally, I believe that polygamy is a statement of lack of faith in the power of God.

By the way, did you know that eleven of Joseph Smith’s 34 wives were already married to other church members at the time he took them to wife (without a divorce), and that they continued to live with their original husbands?
What I know is the JS was a prophet of God and was falsely accused of nearly every crime and sin known to man.

As to Gods power he is all powerful. So why can’t he speak and command men?

something tht you have to show ever happened. jesus teachings on the subject indicte that such a command would never occur
big difference. like him as iin when we re taken into his presence we experience what he has/is. his light shines in us then and we “like” him but we certainly don’t become gods ourselves. that was never taught by paul or christ
it epitomes the blasphemy of eternal progression, it endorses blood atonement, it glorifies a womanizing con man in a manner unknown even for saints, it demonstrates a personality cult masquerading as a religion. i guess i shouldn’t be surprised that people who think calling the creeds abominations isn’t offensive are okay with this despicable song.
I love the song and sing it to my daughter at night sometimes. It teaches many truths.

When we see Christ we are to be like him.

We are the offspring of God.

We are heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ.

Such is a very clear teaching of the Bible. If one places their creeds or traditions above those teachigns that is their choice, but it is contrary to the doctrine of the Bible and Christ’s own words.

The Choice is yours.

Hmmm-since I’ve heard that claim many, many times (without anything to back it up), it would be interesting to list those crimes and the evidence to see just how “falsely” (maybe it was and just maybe it wasn’t.) Probably a topic for another thread if someone cares to do it.

It would be difficult as the eye witnesses are dead. The writings are viewed with great suspicion by anyone who does not like what is written.

Very little can be backed up. It will be dead guy A vs. dead guy B’s version of what happened. I’ve yet to meet a person with a truly objective view on JS or the LDS and I doubt I’m about to.

As you are discerning Mormon with full access to church documents and histories, I would think this information would be readily available to you.

The names and dates detailing the 11 already-married women whom Joseph Smith took to wife between 1838 and 1843, while leaving their original marriages intact, are readily available.

The discrepancy is between Joseph Smith’s actions and what he wrote in the Doctrine & Covenants.

D&C 132:41 And as ye have asked concerning adultery, verily, verily, I say unto you, **if a man receiveth a wife in the new and everlasting covenant, and if she be with another man, and I have not appointed unto her by the holy anointing, she hath committed adultery and shall be destroyed. **
42 If she be not in the new and everlasting covenant, and she be with another man, she has committed adultery.
43
And if her husband be with another woman, and he was under a vow, he hath broken his vow and hath committed adultery.
61 And again, as pertaining to the law of the priesthood—if any man espouse a virgin, and desire to espouse another, and the first give her consent, and if he espouse the second, and they are virgins, and have vowed to no other man, then is he justified; he cannot commit adultery for they are given unto him; for he cannot commit adultery with that that belongeth unto him and to no one else.
62 And if he have ten virgins given unto him by this law, he cannot commit adultery, for they belong to him, and they are given unto him; therefore is he justified.
63 But if one or either of the ten virgins, after she is espoused, shall be with another man, she has committed adultery, and shall be destroyed.

Among his 34 wives, Joseph Smith took to wife eleven women, all church members, who were already married to other men. By Joseph Smith’s own writings he was an adulterer. Those eleven women were also guilty of adultery and deserved to be destroyed.

Joseph Smith’s own writings condemned himself and all of the eleven already-married women whom he married.

Initially, Joseph took several wives in secret without ever asking for Emma’s consent, and even lied to her (and everyone else), repeatedly claiming that he was not involved with other women.

When Emma discovered the truth, it was not a pretty scene. It was only after he was caught with his pants down that Joseph manufactured this convenient revelation on plural marriage which directly contradicts the Book of Mormon (the most correct book on earth). But desperate times call for desperate measures.

that’s a shame. you obviously choose to reject the message of the bible in favor of the teachings of joseph smith. that you teach such blasphemies to your children is worse. you have fallen for satan’s lie and the lure of godhood is apparently too strong to overcome. i can only hope that someday you will see the light

and yet some facts aren’t disputed…just the meanings. for instance we all know joseph smith married multiple women some of whom were legally married to other men. mormons believe god commanded it and it was a righteous act. the rest of us believe it was a mortal sin. we have similar examples with the attempted sale of the BoM copyright, the kirtland “anti-bank” and much about the governance of nauvoo.

what does the bible say about those who call sin righteousness?
