Are you saying people hear mass & recieve the sacraments in heaven ?

The Eucharist is a meal,people gather around it in the early church community to offer thanks to God & to remember to imitate Christ who became man for our sake.

Remarkable story. Not sure if she is telling the truth but, what she does say really hits home hard!! Some extremely eye opening comments from her which make me think about my life in Christ. Definitely makes me want to be a better Catholic etc.

I have printed out her story and will read again! If it will make people better Catholics / followers of Christ then it has to be a good thing.

I wouldn’t say ot’s right out of a medieval catechism. There are parts traditionalists would say is too lenient on non-Christians or mortal sinners, such as their getting a last second kind of chance to see Christ and repent without being Catholic. After all, there’s the classic teaching that outside the Church there is no salvation–period. Generally, it’s probably true, but God can intervene salvifically. We should never presume it’ll happen, but rarely.

God is extravagantly generous and prodigal with his mercy. It’s not “rarely” he intervenes, but constantly and everywhere. God extends every possible opportunity for conversion and repentance. Only when God’s overtures are continually rebuffed does he extend them less often but he never closes that door until it’s too late. Usually God extends his invitations to mercy and conversion in more subtle, less flashy ways, but not always. I have first-hand experience with this.

A year and a half ago on the first Saturday of May 2014, I woke up feeling bad. My left arm was numb and I was short of breath. Instead of going straight to the hospital, I went to a Poor Clare monastery for confession with a Capuchin Friar and to do a First Saturday devotion. I was aware of a serious sin and wanted to confess and hear Mass before going to the hospital. In the parking lot I sent a text to my 5 children telling them I loved them very much, was proud of them, and to keep the faith no matter what happens. I remember opening the door to the oratory, falling onto both knees before the exposed Blessed Sacrament, Standing up and noting to myself there were two priests hearing confession and three people in line ahead of me. The next thing I knew, it was 4 or 5 days later and I was in a cardiac ICU at the Cleveland Clinic. There were two nurses in that oratory and they saved my life. Several visitors were praying for me. 40 cloistered nuns began to pray in the cloister before the Blessed Sacrament. One of the friars was brought out of the confessional to administer the Last Rites. You can’t tell me God didn’t pull me back from the brink of death to give me a second chance. Had I gone anywhere else, I would not be alive today. I would have died (probably in a state of mortal sin) driving to the hospital had I skipped the church and continued on straight to the ER.

God is good. We must never presume upon his mercy but neither should we ever despair of obtaining it. If we strive for holiness, God will not spring a fatal trap on us during the brief period we fall away.

I’ve read Gloria Polo’s testimony on Catholic Bible 101 (easier on the eyes than the other posted site) and I have no doubt about its authenticity. I believe it to be one of *many *testaments of God’s unfathomable mercy!

I think this may have already been mentioned, but Father Steven Scheier (now retired I believe) had a Near Death Experience and during his judgment, Our Lady interceded for him. He was allowed to come back to tell his testimony as a warning to others. Fr. Scheier says, “[m]y mission is to let you know that hell exists and we as priests are liable to it. But also his Divine Mercy exists. His love outweighs justice.” You can read his story here: Fr. Scheier’s NDE He was also interviewed by Mother Angelica a couple of times on EWTN.

Also, there’s an interesting account of St. John Vianney that comes to mind. There was a French woman, a faithful Catholic whose husband was an atheist. He spoke openly against the Church. At one point he became depressed and committed suicide by jumping off a bridge. His wife was beyond consolation and considered her husband lost. She traveled to the parish where St. John Vianney resided and was dismayed when she found a line for days to approach him in the confessional. She resorted to kneeling in the church to pray. Suddenly, St. John Vianney came out of the confessional and approached her. He exclaimed, “He’s saved!” She wondered how could that be, St. John Vianney explained, “I tell you he is saved. But he is in purgatory and you must pray for him. Between the parapet of the bridge and the water he had the time to make an act of contrition.” St. John Vianney further explained that God will use any act of faith towards one’s salvation – the fact that her husband didn’t object to a shrine she had in their bedroom and sometimes joined her in prayer, merited him final repentance and pardon in his final moments, a grace that Our Lady had obtained for him. (Cur d Ars, Saint John Marie Baptiste Vianney by Abbe Francis Trouchu, the account starts on page 539.)

Mary is truly a mother to us ALL and intercedes for each any every one of us. God is love and mercy! If anyone is still unconvinced of God’s unfathomable mercy, I highly suggest that you read or reread St. Faustina’s Diary.

Jesus to St. Faustina on His Mercy:

“Oh, how much I am hurt by a soul’s distrust! Such a soul professes that I am Holy and Just, but does not believe that I am Mercy and does not trust in My Goodness. Even the devils glorify My Justice but do not believe in My Goodness. My Heart rejoices in this title of Mercy.” (300)

“Proclaim that mercy is the greatest attribute of God.” (301)

“My daughter, write that the greater the misery of a soul, the greater its right to My mercy; [urge] all souls to trust in the unfathomable abyss of My mercy, because I want to save them all. On the cross, the fountain of My mercy was opened wide by the lance for all souls – no one have I excluded!” (1182)

St. Faustina on God’s Unfathomable Mercy:

“All grace flows from mercy, and the last hour abounds with mercy for us. Let no one doubt concerning the goodness of God; even if a person’s sins were as dark as night, God’s mercy is stronger than our misery. One thing alone is necessary: that the sinner set ajar the door of his heart, be it ever so little, to let in a ray of God’s merciful grace, and then God will do the rest.” (1507)

“God’s mercy sometimes touches the sinner at the last moment in a wondrous and mysterious way. Outwardly, it seems as if everything were lost, but it is not so. The soul, illumined by a ray of God’s powerful final grace, turns to God in the last moment with such a power of love that, in an instant, it receives from God forgiveness of sin and punishment, while outwardly, it shows no sign either of repentance or of contrition, because souls [at that stage] no longer react to external things. Oh, how beyond comprehension is God’s mercy!” (1698)

Also, one comment about demons in purgatory (since it was mentioned earlier in the post) St. Faustina writes: " I fell asleep as soon as I lay down, but at about eleven o’clock Satan shook my bed. I awoke instantly, and I started to pray peacefully to my Guardian Angel. Then I saw the souls who were doing penance in purgatory. They appeared like shadows, and among them I saw many demons. One of these tried to vex me; taking the form of a cat, he kept throwing himself onto my bed and on my feet, and he was quite heavy, as it [weighing] a ton." (412) According to An Unpublished Manuscript on Purgatory (Nihil Obstat, Imprimatur) which contains revelations written by a 19th century nun and a deceased acquaintance in purgatory, there are different levels within purgatory, with the lowest level being the equivalent to hell. Thus, it is only logical that there would be demons in purgatory, perhaps not within every level, but most certainly at the lowest. So I certainly would not discount Gloria’s testimony on this point.

Impramaturs mean nothing when it comes to so-called private revellations. Psychiatry & psychology have come along way.Don^t be superstitious & believe claims by individuals & their “private claims”. They are a dime a dozen,how many private revellation claim to teach the exact opposite of what these people claim ? Faustina claimed the eucharist went flying out of the tabernacle to rest in her hands 3x. Church approval garantees nothing,its just done to maintain the staus quo rather than dealing with the real problems in the church.

Several months ago I went to a four-day ladies silent retreat at a monastery. During this time the retreat master, a very gifted priest, gave about nine conferences. We were permitted to speak to ask questions at these conferences.

He mentioned the book by Gloria Polo and when I got home I ordered it. Yes it is a remarkable story that resulted in her conversion to a holy life, and influences many people for the good. It gave me some profound insights that I am grateful for.

What makes you think she was mentally ill? Anything to prove that statement?

The Eucharist flying out from the tabernacle 3x to rest in her hands,evertime she put it back it flew back out again. ???
Claims the angels are jealous of humans because we can suffer & recieve the eucharist ??? Claims Christ will bless the whole world on account of herself ???
Suffered from tuberculosis which in turn can effect the brain

I’m sorry but I’m inclined to be rather sceptical about these kind of testimonies.
That isn’t because I’m accusing them of being deceitful, I really think they imagine these visions are real, rather than hallucinate.

And why do we need to hear about visions of heaven and hell anyway? isn’t our religious knowledge and the instruction we have already acquired from our faith enough for us?

You truly are sensible. However since scripture is often allegorical,we dont jnow if hell even exists
