One of the great things about the TLM is that you aren’t required to make any responses if you don’t want to. “Active participation” is not identical with a set of verbalizations; you can do whatever works for you, even if that means praying silently in your spot. The ultimate goal is to unite yourself with what is taking place on the altar, not to make every single last response. I’ve met plenty of people who feel they get more out of the Mass by praying their rosaries quietly in a back pew.
But in general, every time the priest sings something out loud, you respond at the end. In my experience, not a lot of folks sing the propers, though that’s perfectly fine for them to do as well.
