Eucharistic Miracle
Lanciano, Italy 8th Century A.D.
therealpresence.org/eucharst/mir/lanciano.html
I know I’m going to get hammered for this, but I gotta say I don’t put a lot of thought into Eucharistic miracles, incorrupt bodies, apparitions (although I do contemplate the apparition’s message), etc., etc. I put these things in the same catagory as speaking in tongues.

They are of no particular interest to me and could lead me down a path that maybe is not so good for me.

Healing of the sick is a different story.

^ ofcourse you do.
Jesus says in John 6:
64 It is the spirit that quickeneth: the flesh profiteth nothing. The words that I have spoken to you, are spirit and life.

This means you can not understand “supernatural things” like the Real presence of Jesus in the Euharist using HUMAN REASONING if you don’t believe in the supernatural the Devil has
got you already.

Because my religion (and mostly all non-Catholic religions) do not make a religion out of worshipping blood, flesh and dead bodies. I remember reading a book about various religious miracles, and Lanciano was in there…I had to put the book down because, frankly, it was making me sick.

If you can’t see what is gross about the idea that a wafer can turn into real skin that bleeds, then I can’t help you. I don’t care what religion it is, its just sickening. But I can see how, if a person was raised Catholic, they wouldn’t see what’s creepy about it.

And also, this belief (that the wafer and wine turn into the body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus) is the number one thing that makes me know that the Catholic religion is not the truth.

Because Catholicism came out of Judaism, right? And Judaism has always taught in the Torah that Jews are to eat NO manner of blood. This is why when we eat kosher meat, the blood has to be all removed.

Since God refuses to let us ingest any manner of blood because it was given to us to make an atonement for sin, why would he want us to drink his son’s blood? Even in Biblical times when we were still sacrificing animals as one of the ways to atone for sin, we never used the blood: that had to be poured out.
Then you do not know the Catholic faith as you’ve claimed before you have studied it. Catholics DO NOT worship blood and dead bodies. Maybe you’ve been watching way to many CSI series…
BTW, that was the OT, it is the NT now…

both are still idiots. many of us belong in the gray area. this is the age of the mythbusters. 😃

prove it and we’ll believe it.
Idiots - nice intelligent observation … adds a lot to a thread … got anymore to grace us with?

Prove it and we’ll believe…

Prove there is such a thing as the wind. And don’t point to blowing leaves or such because that isn’t the wind, it’s the effect of its existence. Show me the wind, not its effects and I’ll believe the wind exists.

Prove there is a memory, show it to me and I’ll believe. But don’t simply show me a human brain and point to some location in it because I don’t see a memory, only a section of the brain.

Sit in the last car of a train as it proceeds across the land and show me the engine. You can’t. You may know it is there because you see its effect, that is the train moving, but from the last car, you can neither see nor prove that an engine exists.

“This is the age of mythbusters”. Agnos, it’ll bust a myth if just once you add something to a thread beyond your haughty attitude, your little prejudices, and your verbal vomit.

And I say that with the love of Jesus in my heart.

Dictatorship of Rationalism…

Did you read about it? The body and blood have been preserved for 1300 years. Scientific tests have found no preservative chemicals. The blood type AB matches that of the Shroud of Turin. When you weigh one pellet of blood, it weighs the same as two pellets of blood… and three… and four and five. Sorry, but science can’t do that; it can only prove it happened.🙂
I know a little about Lanciano. I was initially intrigued, and later disturbed, by this phenomenon. I mean, why would God allow the creation of a substance, the Holy Blood, to defy the very laws of physics that He created, to create an objective, scientifically verifiable proof of His existence? How could science ever provide data strongly insinuating the existence of God, in a testable, reproducible and human-centric arena? In the scientific world, this would be earth-shattering. If this was true, Dr. Dawkins would probably be at daily adoration.

However, the book on the miracle by Fr. Nicola Nasuti does say the following in regard to the scientific re-examination in 1970: “The phenomenon of the identical weight of one pellet compared to the other four … on February 17th, 1574 … was not verified, just as it had not been verified in the authentication of 1886.” Later in the book it says,“The weight of the 5 fragments taken separately was found to differ from the other …”

So, while some of the info out there on various websites has not been authenticated in over 400 years, I am oddly relieved by this fact. It just does not appear to be in God’s nature to make belief in Him quite that easy.

Well one could say the same thing about The Shroud of Turin.

Do not question God.

Do not question God.
Why not? Did He not welcome the worries, doubts, fears, and questions of the Prophets? Was He not patient the disciples’ inability to “get” what He was trying to say to them? Look at how He related to Job: God used his anger and fears to show him what He was truly made of. I think questions are pretty good, and I think it’s pretty obvious that God welcomes questions and doubts.

24Now Thomas (called Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. 25So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!”
But he said to them, "Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe it."

The more things change the more things stay the same. I suspect if you had seen Jesus wallking on water you would have exclaimed"this guy calls himself the son of God and he cant even swim!?"
continue reading the story of Thomas. Jesus did show him the proof. Nothing wrong with that.

the tests were biased (performed by catholics) thats why these ‘tests’ can only be found in catholic websites.

What “was the OT, it is the NT now”. Really? Only in your (Christian) world, not mine. The Torah is very much alive in traditional Judaism!

If Catholics do not worship blood and flesh (or should I say, the belief that bread and wine become flesh and blood), why do you have Benediction services, where hymns and sung to a wafer inside a monstrance?

It is not the blood of some animal but the blood of the Lord himself which by his own orders we are to eat and drink. This is not done in a bloody manner such as by murder but by a miracle of transubstantiation. Why should this make anyone sick? If anything it should show the goodness of the Lord that he would offer and make himself available for defiled creatures. And in regards to it being an imitatation of someone other than Christ many experiments have been done with it to prove the accuracy of what the church teaches and all examinations of it prove it to be miraculous.

Neither would I expect a Jewish person to believe it. They didn’t believe in Christ from the very beginning that is why he shifted to and revelaed the truth to the Gentiles instead.

You can’t see how disgusting that very idea is, because you are USED to the concept. Look at the comparison I made with circumcision.

For JEWS, circumcision seems normal because we are USED to the practice. But if you described it to people who are not used to the idea (such as Gentile Europeans), they will tell you they find the idea barbaric.

Its not only Jews who don’t accept it. Most Protestants don’t either, and they ARE Christians.

BTW, Paul is the one who decided to bring the new religious system to the Gentiles…because he realized (intelligently) that since 99 1/2% of all Jews soundly rejected the new belief system, if he did not take it to the Gentiles it would not survive. And he wanted it to survive.

That’s also why the new belief system was “gentilized” (got rid of circumcision, kosher laws and the like)…because Paul recognized that Gentiles would never accept the new religion if he didn’t do that.

Read up on the Jerusalem Council in Acts 15 for more background to all of that.

Good one. 👍

Besides, if the consecrated host is really God himself, then there should be a lot of miracles going on around the world IF catholics are really eating God around the world 24/7. Instead the only thing you can show for it is that old piece of leather whose origins are entirely untraceable. And Catholics dont even have the guts to make that piece of leather open to public science examination.

Its propaganda I tell you.

I tend to agree. Something you said (I think it was you) I also wanted to second: that it seems that only Catholics have been allowed to investigate or study this so-called piece of flesh that bleeds. Ditto for the alleged shroud of Turin.

I’m a Jew, and I have to tell you that if an alleged Jewish miracle turned up, and ONLY religious Jews were permitted to study it, I’d be very suspicious right off the bat, even though I am Jewish!

I remember one silly alleged Jewish “miracle” in Brooklyn, of a talking kosher fish (this is so embarassing even mentioning it!)

It was the same thing there: they would not let anyone study it other than religious Jews.

Did it ever occur to you why miracles and uncorruptible bodies of saints happens only in the Catholic faith because Jesus himself finds the Catholic faith his true church?

There are miracles that are occuring right now as we speak all over the world. It’s a miracle you are still on these forums.
