AMEN!After reading all of these posts, it is clear that having the Mass in Latin is best. It would avoid all of these problems. :clapping:

In the Orthodox Churches the response is “and with your spirit.” It has been that way for quite awhile and is not new agey. The correct response is:
“And also with you.” Period
The alternative response is new-agey, and implies that the soul is seperate from the body to which it is assigned.
.
Is that the “Lift up your Hearts” freethrow? Bend at the knees, toss your imaginary heart up to God.While they’re at it, I wonder if they will get rid of the orans posture when responding “and also with you?”
“And also with you” combined with that dorky hand thing makes me laugh. When did that hand thing creep in?

This does display quite a bit of ignorance about the traditional usage and thought of the Church. The correct response is:
“And also with you.” Period

When we say, “And also with you”, we are asking peace to fall upon this priest body, blood and soul, whereas in the alternative they are asking for peace upon only the body.
This is a very ancient heresy which implies anythign physical as bad and spiritual as “good”
The response is not changing.
No, the correct response is *Et cum spiritu tuo, period. Anything else is simply a translation. *The correct response is:
“And also with you.” Period
Oh. You mean the upward scoop? I don’t know when or why that got started but I have noticed only a couple of people doing that at my Church. Usually visitors. At other family members Churches in my area, almost everyone does it.While they’re at it, I wonder if they will get rid of the orans posture when responding “and also with you?”
