I am just curious what other married couples do for eachother on Valentine’s day.

DH and I swore off gift buying when we were married. We decide together what we want for holiday’s and birthdays and go get it.

Don’t LAUGH… 😛

Talk about ROMANTIC… DH and I are going to see VAN HALEN in concert! (The tickets were DH’s Christmas present)… I think I’m going to be one of the youngest people there!
We’ll go out for a quick bite to eat before the concert… so that’ll be a fun night…

MIL is watching the boys… she’s widowed, so she looks forward to having a Valentine’s date-night with the boys! 🙂

Just wish me luck at the concert… I hope I don’t have to trip over too many canes and walkers to get to my seat!
Just kiddin’… I like to make fun of DH… Van Halen was his FAVORITE band in high school… when I was like 6 years old… LOL! 😃

We are throwing caution to the wind and grilling out in the middle of a Michigan winter!!! 😃

My DH LOVES flat iron steak, so we are going to grill out on Thursday on our little two person grill (do not want to haul the big one out).

Does anyone know if grilling in the cold is any different? Charcoal, not gas.

🤷

NOW NOW NOW!!
I was a Van Halen fan, we are NOT that old!!! We only need hearing aids because we were the heavy metal band generation 😃

We are going to our first meeting with our new adoption agency! I got DH a nice card and a few candies but we agreed to put any $$$ we would have spent on gifts toward the adoption fees.

I get roses and Belgian chocolate for Valentine’s Day most years.

He gets hobby-related stuff.

We also go out for dinner at our favourite place. 🙂

It’s more difficult to get the temperature that you will need. So, use more charcoal and allow more time for the grill to get hot. We used to grill year round in Maryland, and of course I still do that in Southern California.

Oh wow - that’s good to know!! I guess I should have figured that, it makes sense, but good to know that I just need to be patient which is something I’m not typically good at. :o

😃 I’m sure you’ll have a great time!! 😃

We have something almost as “romantic” as that planned…watching LOST! 😛 😃

I do hope he’ll at least give me a card…he’s a writer, well he used to be, and used to write poems for me in college. He did write one for me last year for Valentine’s (surprised me!)…it’s little things like that that I really want. ❤️

Now I’m JEALOUS! 😃

Thank goodness… we got a DVR cable box just before this season of LOST started… for that purpose ALONE!
I couldn’t handle missing that show!

We typically ignore the day as one fueled more by the florists, Russell Stover, and Hallmark for commercial gain than romance and favor treats for the kids rather than for each other–and I wouldn’t dream of trying to get good service in a restaurant. But this year dh surprised me (already) by purchasing a purse I have been lusting after. Was a particularly nice treat since we take off for break/family trip on VD itself and I’ll have my new bag to bring w/ me. Now if I could just come up with something fun for him…

We couldn’t handle missing it either! Plus, going out during the week is tough for us with the little one – how about you?

We’ll be celebrating 5 years of marriage in June, so I’m fine with waiting to do something really romantic and special then.

DH sends me an e-mail invitation with a menu of what he will make me for dinner. He has spelling issues though… so one year it was:

Atlantic Samoan and asparagus.

This year… I kid you not, the starter is “Potato soap”

We’re not doing anything special on the day itself, but Saturday we are going to one of our fav restaurants at the beach with our daughter & her husband. My nephew & his wife do something cute with their daughters who are 8 & 11. They get all dressed up (Dad wears a Tux!) and have a nice candlelight dinner at home! That way they spend time as a family, then when the girls go to bed, Mom & Dad have some time alone to watch a movie & share some wine.

I was in our local bulk food store tonight getting Valentine’s candy for my kids when I had a funny idea. I’m going to pack dh a nice lunch on Thursday and include different kinds of chocolate foil-wrapped hearts as well as some of those candy hearts with the little expressions on them. They say things like “Call me anytime” and “Honey bun”. Dh works with a bunch of guys so someone will probably have a good laugh when the contents of his lunchbox are revealed.😛

I will be working at a resturaunt serving all those loving couples that want to have a nice dinner on their Valentines Day.

DW and I (with our 4 kids in tow) will be going out tonight to a Japanese resturaunt. Me personally, not a big fan of Valentines Day, too commercialized.
