I had this thought last night - not seriously considering it, just letting my thoughts wander - of how it would be if I did not have my faith, if I just let myself go and not follow the guidelines of the church. Yeah, “free” in some weird way that might feel… but oh how empty???
I wondered how it was for people who don’t have faith.
(Just thinking now: Maybe I had this thought because sometimes I make it too hard for myself with my over-scrupulosity.)
Anyway I then started feeling really bad about even thinking that, feeling I had been tempted by the devil. Now I know, there is no sin in temptation itself, and I knew the answer to my ponderings: NO WAY!!!
I then crossed myself and prayed to God to reaffirm my love for HIM ALONE.
Is it my scrupulosity that says this may not have been enough? That I might have to do something else, like visit a church, make a special act of contrition?
But I have been getting much better with my OCD again and I don’t want to do anything that might be a compulsion.
Is it ok to just say a prayer? God knows what is in my heart, right?
