Wow, Monica4316, thanks for posting all of that!
Yes! And then, wonder and gratitude.I usually feel my own inadequacy to be receiving.

Yes.Yes! And then, wonder and gratitude.

I think that sometimes God allows us to feel distracted just to humble usHi!!! In regard to the āfeelingsā at receiving the Eucharist, I come to the understanding that sometimes, I am in a condition where I can detach myself from all other thoughts, and concentrate on the presence of Our Lord, on the total acceptance of His Promise, and putting all my Trust in Him. And I canāt deny that there has been certain āwonderful feelingsā. What an opportunity it is then!!!, to forget about āselfā, and, in all humility, give Him all the adoration, praise and glory that he deserves. But, unfortunately, there are times when, my thoughts wander, and I struggle to apply myself and give all my attention to the presence of my Lord. My flesh is weak!!!, but I am humbly aware of my unworthiness!!! He is my Lord and saviour who has offered Himself as a Sacrifice , for the redemption of my soul, and make me acceptable to God. Alleuilla, Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!!!.![]()

Took the words right out of my mouth!I usually feel my own inadequacy to be receiving.
Yup, these are exactly the same thoughts I have.(I feel grateful and humbled: very, very conscious of āLord I am not worthy to receive you, but only say the wordā¦ā) Iām just very conscious of my own neediness.
That is the reply closest to what I tried to convey. Iām humbled when I receive.I usually feel my own inadequacy to be receiving.
To answer your question directly and then add a teaching for you.Iām in RCIA and am looking forward to the day I can receive the Eucharist. I actually have before. As a teen/young adult I went w/my Dad (a baptized/confirmed Catholic living as a Mennonite) and we walked up a received mass at a service the one time we went together. I didināt know you werenāt supposed to if not Catholic. ANyway, I didnāt feel anything differently than I do w/regular communion in Protestant churches. I hear RCs often have this amazing experience and can really feel his presence. Have you?
Maybe itās a psychological thing since you know? I wonder if anyoneās every tried the placebo effect ? Taking 1 consecrated and 1 not and seeing if there was a differnt effect on the person?
I know this is a weird question.
