My wife and I are trying to settle on one name for a boy and a girl. We are not going to find out the sex, as we want the surprise. What do you think of these names?

Boy:
Seamus Patrick
Grant Thomas
Colin Thomas

Girl:
Quinn Therese
Colleen Therese
Eleanor Therese

Oh my gosh, Seamus Patrick is such a good name!!! I definitely approve of that one for a boy… I also like Colin Thomas.

For a girl… Eleanor Therese. Very pretty and romantic.👍

We have agreed that Therese will be the middle name for a girl. I have really felt a connection to St Therese “little flower.” Also my wifes grandmother’s name was Eleanor and she passed on last month. I just am worried that Eleanor is too old a name for a girl now. I really like the middle name Thomas for a boy after St. Thomas Moore, Thomas Merton and Thomas Aquinas.

Boy:
Seamus Patrick 👍
Grant Thomas 👍
Colin Thomas 👍

Girl:
Quinn Therese (not so much)
Colleen Therese 👍
Eleanor Therese 👍

Seamus Patrick
Grant Thomas
Colin Thomas
I love Seamus and Colin! Middle names are both great!
Others to consider:
Liam (William)
Connor
Finn
Girl:
Quinn Therese
Colleen Therese
Eleanor Therese
Quinn isn’t striking a high note with me (not very “girly”) and I like the nickname Elly for Eleanor…
My sister is Eileen Therese, so I love the combination of -een and Therese!
Others to consider:
Eileen, Aileen, Kathleen, Bridget, Maureen, Margaret

I love your Irish name choices!!! Many of them are in my family, including Aileen, Eileen, Maureen, Kathleen, Liam, Patrick, and Thomas!

OK maybe I am the only one that thinks of the Pink Floyd song when I hear the name Seamus.

Here are the lyrics

I was in the kitchen
Seamus, that’s the dog, was outside
Well, I was in the kitchen
Seamus, my old hound, was outside
Well, the sun sinks slowly
But my old hound done sat right down and cried

Guess I always thought it was a dogs name due to that song 🤷

ETA: It is a REALLY odd song

We are trying to have the first name be Irish if possible. We both have Irish Heritage.

I’m an Ann Terese, so of course I like that name. Gwen Terese might also be nice. Gwen is a Welsh name.

Quinn Therese:thumbsup:
Colleen Therese 👍
Eleanor Therese not so much

Colin or Grant are nice. I’m not a fan of Seamus.

Seamus Patrick and Colleen Therese
I’m guessing you’re Irish!!!😉

Boy:
Grant Thomas

Girl:
Eleanor Therese

I’m partial to the name Grant, anymore, as my best friend is a Grant 🙂

And, I like Eleanor best out of your choices, especially since it would be in remembrance of her grandmother–chances are she’ll end up an Ellie, though, if you let her. I like the name Therese…

I love these 3 names but I’m not a fan of Coleen. Coming from Ireland, coleen just means “girl” to me as it is the Irish word for girl. It sounds to me like you would be calling your daughter “Girl”.
If you like the “een” sound and want an Irish name how about Eileen , or Aileen?

Gearoidin

Gerry

Just my opinion…

Boy:
Seamus Patrick Nope
Grant Thomas Yes…Reminds me of Dr. Grant from Jurassic Park…Plus, Thomas is actually in EVERY boy’s name in my immediate family
Colin Thomas Yes. Thomas is good…Colin…Hmm…It just sounds nice, and its not REALLY common

Girl:
Quinn Therese NO…Therese as a midle name = cool…Quinn as a girl’s name…not so much
Colleen Therese Maybe…Its not a bad name
Eleanor ThereseYes…It reminds me of Gone in Sixty Seconds…where the name of the 1967 GT500 Shelby Mustang is “Eleanor”…
😃

Boy:
Seamus Patrick :nope:
Grant Thomas
Colin Thomas 🙂

Girl:
Quinn Therese :nope: She will be confused with a boy
Colleen Therese 🙂
Eleanor Therese :nope: Eleanor Rigby is the association I make
NO, this one will result in endless teasing…
👍
I agree.

Boy:
Seamus Patrick :irish2: Maybe if you’re really Irish?
Grant Thomas 👍
Colin Thomas 👍

Girl:
Quinn Therese :ehh: This is more of a boy name in my experience
Colleen Therese 🤷 I like these separately but not together
Eleanor Therese 👍 Cute! Calling her Ellie or Nora for short maybe?

I like these two names best of your choices.
Colin Thomas - Colin was on our short boy list, only it would have been Colin Gabriel
Eleanor Therese - Love this one. Elle, Ellie, Nora, all great nicknames (although I’m partial to Nora)

Great choices! 🙂

Not a fan of Seamus really. Thomas is great, of course! Colin is probably my favorite of the boys.

Quinn for a girl? No, please. The others are cool, and Therese is excellent! 👍
