nope… read all your wishes and I still haven’t changed my mind… I mean really… I was flexible… I said it could wait until July or August… pretty please???

**OOH! I forgot about a really important wish (could use your prayers here too)…

since we are using NFP to avoid (yes, justifiable) we were not able to be “together” before hubby had to leave for his course at the end of September (and for some time before that due to wacky cycles:(). I really really wish for us to be able to have a few safe days during his time home for Christmas!!! If not, we will be waiting all the way until June:(:(:(. I miss making love with my husband:(.**

Aw…I am weepy again. I need to get a hold of myself. You are all making me teary eyed these days. This is such a dear wish. Malia! I am sorry…I will pray for this for both of you, too. God bless! ((hugs)):console:

I think we all should do a search for BamaRider’s address and send him cookbooks like “Cooking For Mormons When They Visit Your Firehouse”.

Found it, 1ke. Here is the link:

Not plastic…lol Definitely looks pretty nifty, though…no?
Personally, I’d stick with hard anodized, stainless steel, or enamel coated in an upscale brand like Calphalon, All Clad, or Le Creusets if I was going for those “lifetime” pans.

I googled thermolon and while the official website touts all its advantages over the older non-stick technology like teflon, there are a lot of bad reviews on these pans-- especially the Todd English ones on HSN which are called “cheap” and “horrible”. And, this pan requires seasoning.

Oh, and people on independent forums like cooking.com have researched all the planted comments on HSN and they come from hired Green Pan employees in China to blast all the internet sites with positive ratings of these pans-- cooking.com banned a bunch of them.

Anyway, sounds fishy to me.

Thank you 1ke! You have saved us money and misery. lol I hate seasoning pans…something disgusting about it.

What might you recommend for say a set of pots and pans…? Do you know anything about Emeril’s cookware? Sometimes, I wonder if that is the actual cookware that these chefs use!😊 Your thoughts would be helpful.

Brenda V. (who looked up Tiffany jewelry and if all they have is silver, no can do so, y’all are going to have to share those 120 bracelets among yourselves - one of my allergies 😦 is to silver)
Oooooh, these are my favorite, but we can’t afford to get me even one piece (I’m a gold girl, not silver or platinum, but he makes everything in both gold and silver):

romanticjewelry.com/

I am really picky about my jewelry (I don’t like 99% of what’s out there, much to my husband’s delight), but this stuff just makes me melt… :heaven: I hope I can get a few pieces before this wonderful man passes away or retires.

Make it funny if you want. Or go the serious route.

I would love a nice trip to a day spa for example. 😃

Or a date for New Years Eve. 😉

😃 👍
Good question, I would actually like a month’s worth of those heat wrapping therapies at the spa that help you lose up to 1500 calories per session!! MAN that would make me feel so much better, I could lose lbs from all the good thanksgiving food and Christmas food as well!! That’s all I ask for!! 😦

For quality pans, I’d go with Le Creuset, Calphalon, or All Clad. Any of their pans except the “non-stick” options-- I’d go hard anodized, stainless steel, or in the case of LC they are enameled cast iron.

I’d use only nylon/silicone utensils on them (no metal spoons, etc), handwash using a Dobie pad and dish soap although the stainless pans can go in the dishwasher.

I would **not **get Emeril, which are technically All Clad but they outsource this brand to China. They are cheap. If I were getting All Clad, I’d get the real deal which is made in the USA.

If I could afford it I’d buy all real French copper cookware, which is the top, top, top of the line. But, alas… I am on a BUDGET. 😃

If you have, or are contemplating, an induction cooktop make sure you get pans that you can use with induction-- some pans are not magnetic.

Also, I tend to buy open stock instead of a set. That way I find just the pans I am likely to use and usually on sale. Also, although BBB 20% off coupons say that All Clad and Calphalon are excluded, they will take them. I even stood there and told the check out girl the coupon said they were excluded (feeling the need to be honest) and she said it didn’t matter. So, use BBB coupons. BBB tends to have good prices on these brands-- and watch for sales. You can also get LC at some outlet malls.

:yup: That’s what we do.

We have Calphalon stainless steel, and my husband loves cooking with them. I like the look of them, as they hang from my pot rack, since I’m not into cooking much. 😉

I know we have been wishing for some silly or unrealistic things but I will be praying for these two specifically because it will take God’s will and help for sure to have these both happen!

Oh but it has to be a super easy one that uses pre-made stuff like fish sticks so all he has to do is stick them in the oven - we could get him that red microwave so he could do some of that cooking in there too!

How about a cookbook for toasters “Cooking for Mormons When They Visit Your Firehouse Using Your Toaster” That should keep him occupied enough that he won’t even notice he didn’t get a PS3 .

I hope you get your Christmas present, I really do.

BTW, Alice is a good name for a girl.

I think the essential pans for the kitchen are:

Some kind of “every day pan”… which I literally do use every day, It works for sauteeing, frying, cooking just about anything. I literally use this pan all the time. I don’t have a bunch of frying pans and skillets b/c this does it all. I got the bigger sauteuse to cook for my DH’s large family.

A 3 qt sauce pan

A slope-sided pan, such as an omlet pan

A grill pan and a griddle, or a two-burner griddle/grill reversible combo. I love my grill pan for grilling and my griddle pan for making quesadillas, grilled cheese, pancakes, etc.

A dutch oven

A stockpot

A roasting pan (if you roast a lot)

I have the Cuisinart Multi-Clad stainless steel set. This is a great set. I will never buy the non-stick stuff because the coating inevitably flakes off (and gets in your food!).

Stainless steel clean up very easily, much more easily than you might think if you do not have any experience with it.

The “multiclad” part is what makes the pans so great. The core of the pans are aluminum which transmits heat very fast and very evenly. But aluminum is soft. Stainless steel does not conduct heat as well, but is very durable. with a core of aluminum and the inner and outer surfaces of steel, you get a great and durable pan that will last for decades, not just a few years like the non-stick stuff.

Something else to consider. Restaurants and commercial kitchens are generally forbidden by most, if not all, health departments from using non-stick cookware. In fact, nearly everything that comes in contact with food must be stainless steel. If it is good enough for a restaurant, it is good enough for my home.

Oh, and all stainless steel cookware is both dishwasher safe, and, if the handles are stainless, oven safe, unlike many types of coated cookware. You can even sterilize stainless steel.

Go multi-clad Stainless steel! 👍

At 23 still need my Spidey action figure and Metroplex, transformer.

Thank you 1ke and rpp for your advice.

Question…rpp–stainless steel…is that hard to clean??? My hubby’s the cook, but I’m the dish washer…lol…and I don’t want something I need to soak for days. 😊 Thoughts?
