Thank you 1ke and rpp for your advice.

Question…rpp–stainless steel…is that hard to clean??? My hubby’s the cook, but I’m the dish washer…lol…and I don’t want something I need to soak for days. 😊 Thoughts?
I have a few SS pans, and I just use my Dobie pad on them too. They come clean easily.

I did, now I want Playstation 3, but y’all ain’t helping. I mean if I help get y’all toasters, I should have help on my stuff.
And what am I going to make with a toaster? Who eats toast anymore? This isn’t 1950 and I’m not June Cleaver. If you’re going to get a kitchen appliance make it something useful like an immersion blender or a cool coffeemaker, maybe a nice french press. Toast schmoast.😛 😃

You want help with a PS3, you’re going to have to do better than toast.

I don’t know toast can be good. Especially when you cook english muffins just hot enough so the Peanut Butter melts, mmmmm

But you can use a toaster over for that which in turn has multiple uses (especially if you get one that doubles as a convection oven). Nope, toasters are pretty much obsolete, lol. That’s why they’re making them extra fancy now with coordinating colors for your kitchen…they want to you to buy something you don’t need:shrug:

Well ok but an English muffin ain’t toast, it’s an English muffin, toasted:D 😛

Precisely. A toaster is a near obsolete appliance. I have one of the toaster oven slash convection slash rotisserie ones and it’s so much better. The grand thing is, you can toast toast face up so you can out cheese or other melty things on there whilst it toasts. I love the thing.

You’re not datin anybody right now?

To answer your question put me down for a Playstation 3:christmastree1:

In fact I’ll give y’all Debbie’s work email and you can shoot her a hint on what to get.
5 dates this year and none since May. 🤷 Not complaining though sometimes it’s all more of a headache then it’s worth. :banghead: 😃

What:eek: Toasters are obsolete? That must mean I am 'cuz I use my toaster all the time and not just for toast - my daughter uses it for her bagelfuls, I use it to toast my wheat free breads (some store bought ones really need to be toasted), my husband toast bread - all kinds - lately he’s been toasting raisin bread, buttering it and putting applesauce on it for breakfast!

Trust me, we use our toaster far more than I ever used an immersion blender (and yes I have one). I am also a very good cook and can make some pretty good gourmet meals! But the toaster is a must in my kitchen.

**Had a normal two slot toaster. Got tired of it not fitting bagels well unless I sliced them perfectly…got tired of waiting for toast, or frozen waffles, or anything else that needed to be toasted so hubby and I could eat together… thought about getting a 4 slice toaster but decided on the toaster oven instead…

the BEST kitchen appliance (small) that we have ever purchased. Can do all of the old standards (toast, frozen waffles, bagels etc) as well as frozen pizzas, or any other small baked dish that I don’t want to heat up the whole big oven for.

and BONUS…when making toast etc I can put the cold butter from the fridge right onto it as it finishes toasting and it warms it enough to spead:thumbsup:👍👍

I LOVE my toaster oven!!!

edit: forgot to add another great bonus feature… a toaster oven cannot malfunction and pop the items onto the floor for the dog to get, lol. I guess the only one who misses the toaster is the dog:D

Toaster ovens must have improved considerably since I bought my last one (still in use BTW) because all it did for any kind of bread was dry it out before it toasted. Then again that could be the hazard of living in the desert and high altitude.

My toasters never popped toast out so hard that it fell out of the toaster either and I always get one that has slots wide enough for bagels.

Oops, we really have gotten off topic - I pray that your Christmas wish comes true (did you see, you are down to 1 month!)

I buy my own practical gifts… only my mother is allowed to buy me socks and underwear (and bras) for Christmas!

I would love…

To be able to re-do my kitchen and dining room (maybe in about five years when then nest empties…)

To be able to take weekend getaways with my hubby whenever we want to (right now, finances and work schedules… and parenting responsibilities… prohibit this!)

To pay off my and my family’s homes, cars and student loans (I guess I could wish for a winning powerball ticket???)

But I would be happy with simpler things…

*A dinner date with DH at a really nice restaurant (a dress-up kind of place)

*A quart of Baskin-Robbins rainbow sherbet just for me (they’re the only ones that make it right!)

*kitchen gadgets (seriously, I have worn out my measuring cups and spatulas!)

Other than that, I’m good!

Thank you bluerose, you just gave me a great idea for my mom’s Christmas present. 👍

I have another stainless steel question for you, 1ke!

I am nowhere near close to buying a new set since we were just married a year and a half ago, but I have noticed that our hard anodized pot that we use pretty much everyday is already beginning to flake, so I’ve been researching pots and pans. I like the idea of stainless steel, but how do you keep the food from sticking? Do you just use the non-stick spray, or butter? If so, how do you keep THAT from sticking? My bakingware is just a mess from sprays and butters!

Thanks! 🙂

And as for my Christmas present, I’d LOVE a Canon EOS 5D! But that’s not happening! More realistically, I would love to find a brown corduroy skirt! And get a carseat for my quickly-growing little one! 🙂

Oh and since I’m a Texas Tech alumnus, I would love to see Tech in the BCS Championship! Wreck 'em!!! (shameless plug!)

Hmm… I think I’m adding “toaster oven” to my Christmas list. 😉 I’ve never used one before. I know my parents had one, but it was rarely used when I was a kid, and then they got rid of it.

We have one, and it’s great for making small pizzas for the kids…or heating something small up without igniting the larger oven and wasting energy. I think you’ll like it.🙂

**We have one that can do a 12" pizza! So pretty much any frozen pizza from the grocery store. I admit that the smaller ones are not much better than a regular toaster…but if you get the bigger size you can do most of your meals for 1 or 2 people in it.👍****…oh, and it’s great for baking too! I almost never have to heat up my big oven anymore. Saves a lot on electricity.
**
And no, I do not own stock in any company that manufactures toaster ovens, lol.

It is very good for baking, you’re right, Malia! I have made small batches of cookies for the kids too. Notice I say ‘the kids,’ I’m eating this stuff too. 😊

I have stainless pots and pans and have had them for 13 years, they are great. I don’t use a lot of butter or sprays, it really depends on what you are cooking. Don’t turn the heat the whole way to high, and you will be okay! I had teflon or whatever it’s called, did not like it because after awhile it started to flake and I used plastic scrappers and spoons, but I just worry about that getting into your food. Plus, you can’t heat that type of pan without something it in because if it gets too hot it omits a toxic gas. Great!

My dd likes this thread she said…so, she wanted me to tell you all…she would like a new guitar (it’s really beautiful–on sale at her music school) for Christmas, and the last spongbob movie on dvd. 😛
