It’s taken me a long time to find the crucifix or cross that really fit me, but I finally found it. I have always been influenced by the simpleness and environmental love of St. Francis of Assisi. Over the years I have worn the Pope’s crucifix, a regular crucifix, a wooden cross, and a wooden Tao cross. But I found a silver San Damiano cross that I just love wearing. A day hasn’t gone by that I haven’t worn it since the day I had it blessed.

I’d love a San Damiano cross too, if I could find one that was reasonably priced. The only ones around here that I’ve seen are coloured enamel, but I’d only consider a plain metal one.

Okay,
Here it goes on one chain I wear:
small our lady of knots
small ST. Michael
small sacred heart of Jesus and Mary
St. Bernadette
St. Dymphna
St. Monica
Miraculous medal
all blessed of course oh and
a locket with my son’s picture in it (gift from my husband)
I jingle tons–even at night!!!
Blessings,
Eli

I’ve seen a lot of the colored enamel ones too. This one is a plain medal one (silver) that I picked up at The Grotto in Portland, OR for around $38. I’ll keep my eyes open and if I find one online, I’ll send you a note. 🙂

I usually don’t wear anything around my neck, except my wedding ring at times.

I wear a Mother & Child pendant with two little diamonds for Twosweetgirls. Though lately, I’ve contemplated the addition of a tiny Miraculous Medal to hang next to them. ❤️

I know this thread is old, but i found it while looking for something else and had a question…

no one wears a rosary around their neck?

i read somewhere that it’s considered disrespectful in some places, and it depends culturally. at our place, it’s common to see young people wear rosaries (not as jewelry but as devotion).

(though, i wear mine wrapped around my wrist to be easily reminded to pray it… and wear a Scapular around my neck 🙂 )

Most days I wear a Miraculous Medal, sometimes nothing and sometimes I switch with other medals. I plan to get one of the Divine Mercy Jesus soon. 🙂

Sparkle asked what is the brown Scapular… Our Lady appeared to St. Simon Stock the Father General of the Carmelite Order on July 16th 1251. He was an English Hermit and lived in the hollow of a tree. The Carmelites originated near Nazareth in the Holy Land and migrated across Europe.and the Carmelites saw great value in in working among the people.St. Simon guided them through this state of transition. St. Simon prayed earnestly to Our Lary for help. Our Lady appeared to him with a multitude of angles holding the Scapular of the order in her Blessed hands.
Our Lady gave a scapular for the Carmelites with the following promise.
"Reveive, My beloved son, this habit of thy order: this shall be to thee and to all Carmelites a privilege, that whosoever dies clothed in this shall never suffer eternal fire… it shall be a sign of salvation, a protection in danger, and a pledge of peace.
The Carmelite Scapular is made from wool material oblong shaped with Our Lady holding the baby Jesus and underneath says Mother of Carmel. On the other end of the brown ribbon is a somewhat similar picture with the words Pledge of Salvation.
The Scapular is worn with one piece hanging down the front and the other hanging down the back.
Some Scapulars are make from browm material but covered in plastic.
I prefere the brown woolen cloth.
There are 3 conditions for wearing the Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Carmel to obtain the privilages
  1. Chasity acording to you state in life.
  2. Pray the Rosary.
  3. Enrollment in the Brown Scapular which makes part of the Carmelite family throuthout the world. This must be done by a Priest.
This gives you a special relationship with St. Eljah, St. Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross, St. Theree of Lisieux and most importantly Our Lady Of Mount Carmel
This is what I wear around my neck along with a Cross I got in the Holy Land which represents all religions there.
Sparkle I hope this explains a little to you
Our Lady of Carmel pray for us all 🙂

I used to wear a Saint Florian medal but now I wear a scapular and a Miraculous Medal. I’m sure Saint Florian understands ;). Besides, I have his image/prayer on my locker door.

Either one of my scapulars or a crucifix or a medal of my choice.

I’m too “embarrassed” to wear my crucifix outside my shirt though. It’s on a short enough chain to not be obnoxious but I feel like I curse too much to be associating those words with that image, and in turn, with Catholicism :o

Keep it outside your shirt to help you stop cursing. I know that having a large MM and crucifix right out in the open has helped me to choose my words more carefully. (As well as led to some chances to evangelize.) Also, i’ve found that a rosary hanging from my rear view mirror helps me be a more courteous driver. God bless you!

Usually I wear my Holy Face medal, although sometimes I wear my simple silver crucifix (a plain cross with a Corpus) or my medal of Our Lady of Buenos Aires, which my sister gave me.

I have been reading about the Miraculous Medal, and I’m wondering where I can get one! Do you have to enroll in it like the scapular? Can you be “Catholic-in-training” and wear one? I want to know more! 😃
