What Do You Wear Around Your Neck?

As of right now, all I wear is a little turtle made of unakite, which is this beautiful green and orange stone.

But I have ordered a Papal Crucifix and I have a Miraculous Medal on the way–I am to be enrolled in the Militia Immaculata on May 31, and they send you one for free. (Of course, free stuff wasn’t my reason for joining–consecrating myself to Mary was…but I digress)

I also have a brown scapular that was given to me by my parents when I received my First Communion, but at the time I wasn’t quite sure what to do with it, and now I can’t wear it because I found out about it and It hasn’t been properly invested. So when that happens I’ll either wear it or get a new one.

Seriously…I wear a small, gold cross plus a heart diamond pendant my husband gave me for Valentine’s Day a couple of months ago. They both mean a lot to me; the cross, for obvious reasons, and the heart pendant because it’s from my husband who knows I have a weakness for jewelry.

They’re both small and delicate because I don’t like anything heavy hanging from my neck; I would feel like I had an anchor weighing me down.
 
I wear a wooden Tau on a knotted cord (3 knots, not including the one that holds the two ends of the cord together).
 
St. Anthony medal, St. Therese of the Child Jesus medal, St. Christopher medal.
 
To be honest, I dont wear anything around my neck. I have no clue where to get the Crucifix neckless.
 
Deep breath I wear a crucifix, miraculous medal, and the scapalcur on one chain, and another I try to keep underneath it has my medal of St. Benedict, and with it an assortment of various saint medals (I’m not sure how many I’ll keep on it, or which ones.) Also, does one have to have their miraculous medal and scapalcur blessed in order for them to “work?”
 
All I wear is a crucifix, however I carry a variety of medals including the miraculos medal, I also keep my Rosary in my pocket, along with a copy of the True Letter of our Lord Savior Jesus Christ.
 
I purchased a nice looking rosary when I got confirmed and had the Bishop bless it. I’ve worn it around my neck every day and night since that day. I don’t feel right without it around my neck.

I usually wear it under my shirt but on occasion I wear it out. Special days, etc. I have even managed to make it a tool for evangelization.

It’s great. I may wear it out one day at work in the office and it takes about 5 minutes for all the non-practicing Catholics to come out of the wood work and say… “nice neclace, is that a rosary”?

The second they say “is that a rosary” I know they have some background in the Church and I also find myself in a conversation about the Church that I didn’t have to start.

It’s great. I’ve told so many people at work about the faith and I didn’t even have to start the conversation.
 
What is that top medal of yours? I have one, took it by mistake, and have no idea what it is.

I wear a chain containing a Miraculous medal and a small AGNUS DEI. I also wear a Saint Philomena cord around my neck (my waist is too big, for shame 😦

I myself wear:

-Miraculous Medal
-St. Benedict medal. I used to be involved in the New Age, and he has greatly helped me.
-A simple cross given to me by my father (who is Lutheran, but was overjoyed when I was led to Christianity, even if it wasn’t his own version. Creates for some interesting discussions in our house.)
-Brown Scapular. One of the first things my priest did was enroll me in this after I told him everything I had been involved in.

I also carry a Rosary in my pocket at all times, properly protected of course. It was made by my great grandmother about 40 years ago.
 
I wear a Brown Scapula (lol) that came with a small St. Benedict Medal and a crucifix attached; a miraculous medal; and a papal crucifix.
Sometimes all the jingling and getting caught in the scapular bothers me and I take the papal crucifix off the chain.

I certainly hear myself jingle when I excercise!

On a short chain I wear a scapular medal (on one side it has The Sacread Heart of Jesus, on the other side Our Lady of Mount Carmel). It sometimes shows, depending on what I am wearing.

But on a longer chain that remains always inside my clothes I wear a Miraculous Medal, a medal of the Lord of Mercy (that image that Sister Faustina Kowalska saw) and a medal of my beloved Lady of Guadalupe.

One more thing: I like to wear special medals dedicated to a certain Saint (St Joseph, St Therese, St.Ignatius) on their day.

Do I jingle? you bet!!! 😃

I wear something similar to what you wear, Alma. I certainly jingle when I walk. Not really “good” at work because the office where I work has row upon row of cubicles with software designers in them trying to concentrate. The only noise you hear on the whole floor is me and my medals jingling as I walk. The walls on the rows of cubicles are almost 6 feet high (I’m only 5’8").

I wear my crucifix, my teeny Miraculous Medal, and 2 oblong medals – one is the Divine Mercy medal (image on one side and Jesus I Trust In You on the other side) and the other one is my scapular (the medal version because I’m allergic to the wool one that Father gave all of us in my First Communion class when he enrolled all of us in the scapular as we waited in the vestibule to enter the church as a group at our First Communion).

Sometimes, I take my scapular and pull it around to the back of my neck so that it won’t clang against my Divine Mercy medal and my crucifix that are each the same dimension as my scapular medal.

I use a stainless steel chain that I got at a local retreat house for a buck to hang my medals on. The chain amazingly does not have a clasp of any kind on it! So I took it to a local store to get jump rings for about 30 cents each and had the lady at the store put each of my medals and my crucifix on their own jump ring… and then she put each one on my large chain in the sequence which I specified.

I picked “Other”, because I often wear all four.

Right now, I am wearing:
  1. A five-fold Scapular(under my shirt)
  2. A pendant with a picture of a Sacred Host and Chalice. (under the shirt)
  3. A chain with various medals(under the shirt)
  4. A mosaic cross with a picture of Pope Pius XII in the center.(over the shirt)
  5. Sometimes I also wear a Rosary(often over the shirt)
