For today’s modern catholics it means S.S.P.X. Yet would never equate it for themselves if they choose to disagree with the teaching of the Church. Incredable.

Although recently it is more common to refer to this Sacrament as Reconciliation, it is still acceptable to call it the Sacrament of Confession. That was its more usual name for a long time.

Just gonna say that hahaha 😃
What does the phrase “binding and loosing,” as mentioned in Matthew 16:19 and Matthew 18:18, refer to?

Ok. This discussion only made me more confused. I showed it to my friend to see if she can figure it out. And she doesn’t get it either. Anna asked to use my account to reply, so I’m letting her use my account. Her words will be in pink and quoted with Anna at the end.

"Thank you all for your insight on this issue. Yet, I find it difficult to determine if I am excommunicated or not based on the posts to this form. As for my ordination, this is something very personal for me. First off you should know the role of priestess within the inter-faith group I am a part of has a different meaning than the role of Priest within the Catholic Church. Within my group this title means that I have worked hard and gained the respect of my peers. It also means that I have devoted my life to the Divine. I do not plain to lead or start a church. And I do not instruct or lead anyone. The role of priestess only means that I connect with the Divine at a very personal and powerful level (which I am sure most of you here on this form do as well). This is a personal thing, rather than a public thing. I am concerned about the matter of excommunication, due to the fact that I do still have a deep love for Catholicism and pray the rosary often. I have noticed that some have asked if I attend church services. Currently I attend Mass only on days of obligation, as seeing the Mass, but not being a part hurts too much to bare. Due to a health condition, I can not have even trace amounts of wheat, gluten or yeast with out having a severe allergic reaction. After the last time of trying and going to the ER, I realized that it is impossible. I have not received Communion since 08 for this reason. I fought this has hard as I could, and suffered allergic reaction and allergic reaction in an attempt to find a safe way to receive the Body and Blood of Christ. Nothing worked… Despite my love of Catholicism, it seems that this will never be possible for me. Unlike my friend Angel, I am not able to deal with this allergy and attend Mass. " ~ Anna
One does not have to receive Holy Communion to receive the Holy Spirit for it is also given in Holy Confession. That means it is possible to always be in a state of grace. If one cannot receive the Holy Body for some medical reason then it may be possible to receive the Holy Blood instead, but if no,t when fulfillment of a precept is morally impossible, it is not required. Excommunication is an ecclesiastical censure by which one is more or less excluded from communion with the faithful, not a medical exclusion.

See:

Can. 1331
§1 An excommunicated person is forbidden:
1° to have any ministerial part in the celebration of the Sacrifice of the Eucharist or in any other ceremonies of public worship;
2° to celebrate the sacraments or sacramentals and to receive the sacraments;
3° to exercise any ecclesiastical offices, ministries, functions or acts of governance.

Anna claire posts are so sad to read. here Anna will last about 2 minutes before her arguments are pionted out to be misguided and the reasons why including the relevant cathecism. unfortunalty there are many Anna’s out there and although i don’t know if and pray that she is not spreading heresy, we can be sure that there are many catholics in the world that are being persuaded by this erronous teaching and there is nobody pointing out the preoper teaching.

Anna Claire posts are so sad to read. here Anna will last about 2 minutes before her arguments are pointed out to be misguided and the reasons why including the relevant catechism. Unfortunately there are many Annas out there and although I don’t know if and pray that she is not spreading heresy, we can be sure that there are many Catholics in the world that are being persuaded by this erroneous teaching and there is nobody pointing out the proper teaching.
I think that Anna has some real issues with authority and I am not sure that it is only a Church related problem. I say that because one of her latest post was not sad at all and it was very supportive of being aligned with what the Church teaches. She might need sometime to learn to trust more in what the Church teaches and in her institutions.

Oh the hierarchy can certainly speak the words but most just ignore them. It’s a silly proclamation for the church of 2012. No man can tell another that he or she is no longer part of the Body of Christ. No one human being has that authorit]
Anna I find your posts so sad to read. here your arguments will be pionted out to be misguided and the reasons why including the relevant cathecism. in a swift manner. unfortunalty there are many people out there like you who believe the church has moved on issues that you don’t want to accept, but this is completly false, unfortunatly there are many catholics in the world that are being persuaded by this erronous teaching.
