Begin by asking them whether they would kill someone if they felt like it. They will probably answer, “No.”when they say: “I think it is stupid to base your whole being in something so much that you don’t live your life the way you actually want to…I also think it is stupid for people to go through life scared of everything that “might” happen to them.”
this is open for both catholics and protestants.
“Why Not?”
“It’s against the Law. I’d go to jail.”
“Then you cannot live your life as you actually want to can you.”
The above can be modified to fit the situation.
Actually we all, “base our lives on something so much that don’t live our lives the way we actually want to…” The question is what is that something?
Do you go to work at a job you love? Do you go because you want to? Or do you go to a job you don’t like because it pays the bills, or because it pays more money than a job you might enjoy more? Then aren’t you also compromising living your life “The way you actually want to?”
As far as the fear factor goes, I think the Agnostic and Athiest fears than the Christian. For the Christian, worldly things are of little importance. They are just a means to an end.
Money is just a way to care for our families and communities. We trust God to provide us with what we need. I have seen this in my own life so I know.
Our houses don’t need to be the biggest and best, for they are just shelter.
We do not need to be concerned about our posessions because, even if they are taken from us we still have Treasure in Heaven.
Simple food is the best. It nurishes the soul as well as the body.
Fear? With the Lord as my Sheperd what should I fear? If I do have fear it is not because I am a Christian, it is because I am sinner and do not trust in the Lord.
Those who do not believe, on the other hand must fear for their posessions, their livelyhood, their abode and all other things because that is all they have. They have no hope of treasure in heaven because they won’t get there. They have no faith to fall back on or move forward with. They have no one to take their innermost fears to.
The Christian is far more liberated than the Agnostic.
