One way to see why the death penalty is less important than abortion is to consider that one is performed on individuals found guilty of great evil and the other is the killing of one who is entirely innocent. Another is the sheer numbers; since 1976 only 1,473 people have been executed in the United States while far in excess of 40 million abortions have occurred in the same time frame. A third way is to understand that capital punishment can be a moral decision and directly willed abortion can never be a moral decision. These two issues are world’s apart. Let’s end abortion and then debate this issue.Isn’t the pope against the death penality? I don’t understand how the death penalty is less important than abortion?
