What does Porneia mean?

Although, again, all of these things were punishable by death, I believe. So it’s an exception that would apparently never apply, in that particular society.
 
According to the law of divorce Moses offered. I think this point supports the fact that Moses most likely permitted divorce for reasons less serious than those punishable by death.

But regardless of what Moses permitted, however, Jesus rejected that concession.

And if i havent already mentioned…

If there were two schools of thought about what Moses permitted divorce for (any indecency or adultery) and Jesus supposedly agreed with the adultery interpretation, then why wouldnt He have used the word for adultery???

Actually no. The context of post 85 was Acts 15 and how would the converts understand the meaning of porneia being used in the context of Moses’ writings regarding immoral sexual unions.

Leviticus 17 is the context of the other things required to abstain from, no? And the next chapter deals with sexual prohibitions.

I dont think we need to get into references regarding Onan and its vague relation to various sexual immorality

I did open the ones in the original post, or at least one. It was very long and did not seem to address my thread question.

If i am wrong, please quote something specific that is related to porneia and its contexts used in the New Testament, please. In particular, Matthew’s use of the term and Luke’s (Acts 15).

Btw, im not being lazy about the links. I just have alot going on to read long articles right now that dont seem to address the issue.

I havent argued that those examples of sexual immorality (pre-marital sex, masturbation, contraception) are in fact Biblically condemnable.
