I ask St. Joseph, each day… to be our Protector. I thank him for protecting and providing for Our Lord (in His Childhood) and Our Lady. And I ask him to come into my home, and do the same for my mother and I.

And good for us Catholics to remember… that St. Joseph is the Patron of the Universal Church.

We have a special love of St. Joseph. Being from California… we fondly remember, that on the Feast of good St. Joseph… the swallows always return to San Juan Capistrano Mission. Here is the link. It’s a lovely miracle to behold. St. Joseph, pray for us.

I depend on St. Joseph as Protector of Families. Also as patron of Workers, thast I get enough work to stay afloat, that he direct any career direction I should take. I even have a “honey-do” list on my refridgerator. The jobs get done! I recently asked him for help moving. I was anxious that I did not know anyone to help me. I needed men to hel me move. I got 17!

Whenever I feel anxious about anything I need a husband for, I remember I have St. Joseph.

Dear Marie & Eliza

I must thank you both very much. You must both be open very much to the Holy Spirit and to St. Joseph’s prayers & help.

The reason I say this is the following:

Marie, we have swallows at the place were we live as well, and they recently returned. I really saw that as an show of God’s love for us and went enthusiastically “The swallows are here! The swallows are here!” as I missed them being around from the year before - now seeing and reading the story about the Swallows in the San Juan Capistrano Mission has shown me again the Love of God and St. Joseph. Thank you!

Eliza, I love the glass window photo you attached - it is really beautifull, and it does good to see proper & Holy Catholic images. It lifts the soul. It was the first thing I noticed on reloading the page. Thank you! PS. Can I use this image to place it on my computer’s background?

I have been praying the EWTN Novena to St. Joseph listed above, and it has been a real blessing. I think it is really beautifull and talks first in detail about the life of St. Joseph, making you realize how great a Saint he is. Then you pray the Novena prayer. You can also download the litany of St. Joseph on the EWTN site.

Thank you Lord! Thank you St. Joseph! Thank you Holy Mother!

God Bless
R

The swallow story is fascinating! Like St. Rita’s white bees!

Does “San Juan” mean “St. Joseph”??

R, Yes, i am open to St. Josephs prayers and help, and I have to remind myself that thats a grace! I went through a difficult time with converting and then a divorce and being thrown into being a single mom. I was really thrown into a crisis and all i could do is pray. So many issues come up with being on my own, and I have learned to count on St. Joseph to help and protect me and he does so to a great measure! I knwo that God does not want us to be anxious, and when I feel anxious aobut things I would depend on a husband for, I give it to St. Joseph and endeavor to truly give it up and trus thim to take care of it.

The picture is from the internet so you can certainly use it anyway you want! Here is another - I’m not sure whose but it looks like Rembrandt to me:

Dear R, The EWTN litany is a good one and I think it was a good idea to switch when you could not get comfortable with the Cloak one. But someday you might want to pray the cloak one, which I only just learned of, because I see it is full of beautiful theology.

Here’s some comments on what you quoted:
Let’s take for instance this line:

“O Joseph, most forceful, pray for us”
Wow, I’m not sure what that means. Forceful will to do God’s will most likely. Someone with more theological knowledge could give some insight.
Another example is:
  • “In fact, not only were you surrounded by the shining splendour of the rays of the Divine Sun, but you were splendidly reflected in the brilliant light of the mystic moon, the Blessed Virgin Mary.”
I do find that beautiful and true. The Divine Sun is Jesus. He wasfully God when Joseph held Him, when He cried, when He reached out to his holy foster or His Blessed Mother. Joseph was surrounded by the Divinity the Holy Son. He was surrounded by Mary, and she is known as the “moon”, in a mystic sense, while Jesus is the Sun, the source of light. The moon is lit up brilliantly, so brilliantly as to cast a shadow, to light up the night, by the light of the sun, but does not emit is own personal light. That is why Mary is like the moon.
And this section which I find confusing and am still trying to understand:
  • “O Glorious Patriarch, if the example of the ancient Jacob, who personally went to congratulate his favorite son, who was exalted on the throne of Egypt, served to bring all his progeny there, should not the example of Jesus and Mary, who honored thee with their greatest respect and trust, serve to bring me, thy devoted servant, to present thee with this precious cloak in thy honor.”
Well I cannot wrap my mind around this right now. But I expect it has a deep meaning.
There are also the many statements, promises and pledges you make throughout this Novena which you may not be able to make in full Truth, nor may be able to keep (I skipped these or changed them to something I did know was True of myself or that I could try todo)
Perhaps it like when you say the act of Contrition and you promise to never sin again - it would take God’s grace to do so.
It also has an alledged statement of St. Theresa that reads “If you really want to believe in it, prove it to yourself by reciting the Novena - and you will be finally convinced.”

Has this statement ever been verified? Did St. Theresa really say this?
I don’t know but she could have. I am sure she means pray it.

I think its good to start basic. One of my favorites is this one from The Pieta prayer book:

Prayer to St. Joseph over 1900 years old

O St. Joseph whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the Throne of God, I place in you all my interests and desires. O St. Joseph do assist me by your powerful intercession and obtain for me from your Divine Son all spiritual blessings through Jesus Christ, Our Lord; so that having engaged here below your Heavenly power I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the Loving of Fathers. O St. Joseph, I never weary of contemplating you and Jesus asleep in your arms. I dare not approach you while He reposes near your heart. Press him in my name and kiss His fine Head for me, and ask Him to return the kiss when I draw my dying breath. St. Joseph, Patron of departing souls, pray for us. Amen.

When I was confirmed I took the name Joseph. I always liked the name and admired the quiet strength and faith of Jesus foster father. When I build something, do a repair around the house, or work in my yard, I try to remember to say a prayer that Jesus and St. Joseph will accompany me and and guide my hands.

When I make this prayer my patience increases and my projects always seem to turn out better. I am convinced that a humble request by those that ask for help will be answered. If we walk with the Lord, He and His saints walk with us.

Does “San Juan” mean “St. Joseph”??
San Juan is Saint John
San Jose is Saint Joseph

I prayed the beautiful long novena to St. Joseph and he helped us quickly sell our business.

I went to Catholic school and was raised Catholic, but I was never confirmed. I have to take RCIA classes I suppose. I plan to take the name Josephine as my confirmation name because I want St. Joseph to be my patron saint (Do we have to pick only one?)

And you know what’s strange? I don’t like how you say Joseph and Josephine in Spanish (Jose or Josefina) and I thought that I would never like to pick that name if I ever had a child.
So I can’t believe I’m taking it as a confirmation name. But perhaps I’ll pick the English version of the name.🙂
