Hello,
The popular understanding of the word “saved” is saved from hell and going to heaven. I can fully realize why this view would become prevalent, however, what did the apostles say we are saved from?
MT 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name
JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

It doesn’t say anything above about saved from hell and going to heaven.
Peter was preaching to a crowd of perspective converts on Pentecost when he said: ACTS 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every
one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
ACTS 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call.
ACTS 2:40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort,
saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Not a word about going to heaven. In fact the whole book of acts is filled with mini sermons given to perspective converts and in none of the sermons does the preacher promise anyone heaven.

salvation from our sins is what i always
thought we were saved from.

We’re saved from ourselves…our pride, our ugliness toward others, our vanity, our over-love of comfort, our focus on the temporal things without seeing their eternal purpose, our attachments that we allow to develop, our near total self-focus, our self-pity, our complaining, our lack of industriousness, our sense of entitlement, our disordered sensuality, our lack of love for God.

These are what we are saved from.

Original sin and all its consequences.

Saved from disaster - at the end of the world - when we shall be separated -
the wheat from the chaff ! The goats from the sheep !
Saved from the FIRES below !

***************************************Colossians 3:1
Therefore, since you have been raised with Christ, strive for the things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.…

***********************************John 14:2
In My Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and welcome you into My presence, so that you also may be where I am

“Eyes haven’t seen, ears haven’t heard, nor has
it entered into any ones’ heart what God has
prepared for those who love Him !”

We are saved from sin - or our nonacceptance of God’s love. Once we accept God’s love and will in our lives and die with that love, we are saved.

Since hell is a consequence of sin and heaven is the consequence of being saved from our sin, it is really saying the same thing.

It’s all about receiving and experiencing the light rather than the darkness, of being “redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors”, 1 Pet 1:18. This brings us life as opposed to death, eternal life, “life abundantly”, rather than eternal death (hell). It begin here, in this life, as we come to gain the “knowledge of God”.
"Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent." John 17:3

It’s consummated in the next life:
"For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known." 1 Cor 13:12

To come to know God is to come to love Him. This is where our justice lies, as well as our happiness. And as we come to know Him, we’re no longer “lost”, not knowing where we came from, if anywhere, what we’re here for, if for anything, and where we’re going, if anywhere. We now know that goodness and justice and order and love lie at the foundations of this universe, even in this messed up world where evil is also allowed to have its day, for a time.

Saved from what?

The one thing the New Testament tells us what we are saved or freed from is “the power of sin and death.”

That is pretty much what it is.

And if you limit yourself to your little passages quoted, then yes, there is no mention of heaven. But if you took the effort, you will find that
  1. God the Father dwells in heaven
  2. Jesus’ redemption also sends the Spirit on us to make us adopted children of God…
  3. …and as children we are heirs.
Since Christ has promised many rooms in his Father’s house, that is a promise of what being saved from the power of sin and death entails. We avoid hell, and there is no other place to go, but to be with God.

Sin, evil and hell. On the other hand, rigtheousness, goodness, heaven and God

Yes, just like some other biblical answers, you had blessings from the Holy Spirit to provide the right verse.

My personal experience that when we pass away, we go through a tunnel of light and darkness. I was saved from the darkness to the Light.

The third eye is our intelligence, you SEE?

It’s with this eye that we will probably have the Beatific Vision (hopefully)

We can have visions often, but not beatific vision by st Agustin described or by Catholic theology. I experienced once, more like Eastern Christian tradition about the divinization vision with perfect happiness.

I like the prayer at the end of the Renewal of Baptismal Promises at Easter .

“And may Almighty God , the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ , who has given us new birth by water and the Holy Spirit and bestowed on us forgiveness of our sins , keep us by his grace , in Christ Jesus our Lord , for eternal life .”

We are saved from our old selves , so that we become partakers of God the Trinirty , sons of the Father with Jesus as our Lord and with the Holy Spirit dwelling in us , destined for eternal life in the age to come .

This comes from a pretty flawed understanding of justice. God’s justice isn’t a bad thing. To get a better understanding of this virtue, check this link: https://www.catholicgentleman.net/2013/08/the-cardinal-virtues-justice/
The article you posted was about Human Justice.

I am talking about the fact that we are all guilty of sin and rebellion against God. Therefore, we all deserve to go to hell. When we are saved, we are saved from God’s rightful justice. Instead of facing the rightful Justice of God we rest in His mercy.
