What does the Book Of Mormon bring . . . .

If there’s nothing morally superior, and it seems to me that at best Mormonism is re-inventing the wheel.
How about this one; is this still reinventing the wheel?

Ether 3:

6 And it came to pass that when the brother of Jared had said these words, behold, the Lord stretched forth his hand and touched the stones one by one with his finger. And the veil was taken from off the eyes of the brother of Jared, and he saw the finger of the Lord; and it was as the finger of a man, like unto flesh and blood; and the brother of Jared fell down before the Lord, for he was struck with fear.

7 And the Lord saw that the brother of Jared had fallen to the earth; and the Lord said unto him: Arise, why hast thou fallen?

8 And he saith unto the Lord: I saw the finger of the Lord, and I feared lest he should smite me; for I knew not that the Lord had flesh and blood.

9 And the Lord said unto him: Because of thy faith thou hast seen that I shall take upon me flesh and blood; and never has man come before me with such exceeding faith as thou hast; for were it not so ye could not have seen my finger. Sawest thou more than this?

10 And he answered: Nay; Lord, show thyself unto me.

11 And the Lord said unto him: Believest thou the words which I shall speak?

12 And he answered: Yea, Lord, I know that thou speakest the truth, for thou art a God of truth, and canst not lie.

13 And when he had said these words, behold, the Lord showed himself unto him, and said: Because thou knowest these things ye are redeemed from the fall; therefore ye are brought back into my presence; therefore I show myself unto you.

14 Behold, I am he who was prepared from the foundation of the world to redeem my people. Behold, I am Jesus Christ. I am the Father and the Son. In me shall all mankind have life, and that eternally, even they who shall believe on my name; and they shall become my sons and my daughters.

15 And never have I showed myself unto man whom I have created, for never has man believed in me as thou hast. Seest thou that ye are created after mine own image? Yea, even all men were created in the beginning after mine own image.

16 Behold, this body, which ye now behold, is the body of my spirit; and man have I created after the body of my spirit; and even as I appear unto thee to be in the spirit will I appear unto my people in the flesh.

17 And now, as I, Moroni, said I could not make a full account of these things which are written, therefore it sufficeth me to say that Jesus showed himself unto this man in the spirit, even after the manner and in the likeness of the same body even as he showed himself unto the Nephites.

18 And he ministered unto him even as he ministered unto the Nephites; and all this, that this man might know that he was God, because of the many great works which the Lord had showed unto him.

19 And because of the knowledge of this man he could not be kept from beholding within the veil; and he saw the finger of Jesus, which, when he saw, he fell with fear; for he knew that it was the finger of the Lord; and he had faith no longer, for he knew, nothing doubting.

20 Wherefore, having this perfect knowledge of God, he could not be kept from within the veil; therefore he saw Jesus; and he did minister unto him.

Or do you really want me to quote you the entire Book of Mormon on the board? Scripture is not just about morality. It is also about theology, doctrine, and divine knowledge. Jesus said: “You shall know the truth, and the truth will make you free”. That is what the Book of Mormon offers to you, if you want to take it.

Campbellite theology 1800 years after the fact. Nicely written, Sidney Rigdon.

Nay, but the word of God!

zerinus
the words of a false God, Joseph Smith. Even this long after his death this scam is stil raking in the bucks. Seen Boyd K. Packers house? not bad for a teacher.

Who is Jared?

True. They are intertwined, though. In my opinion, morality is where the rubber meets the road. I know this from my own sinful life.
Jesus said: “You shall know the truth, and the truth will make you free”.
Another re-hash from the Catholic bible.
That is what the Book of Mormon offers to you, if you want to take it.
I believe you are sincere.

Who is Jared?
Go and read the book. That is the right way to find out. I am not going to quote you the book. It is 500 pages long!

There is nothing wrong with the morality of the Book of Mormon. It teaches the same morality as the Bible. But in addition, it will also teach you some great truths that will “make you free”.

It was not a “rehash”. I was quoting form the Bible. So you think you have a monopoly of quoting form the Bible? Nobody else is allowed to? And by the way, it is not the “Catholic Bible”. The Catholics did not write the Bible. The Jews did. You appropriated it from them.
I believe you are sincere.
I sure am! I hope you are too.

Jared:
In the book of Ether in the Book of Mormon, Jared was the name of the primary ancestor of the Jaredites. He, his brother, their families and their friends came to the “promised land” (the Americas) shortly after the Tower of Babel.

you can save yourself 500pages of reading:)
Thank you! I am perfectly aware that I could have given him that information myself. But I didn’t because I anticipated the next question: “Who are the Jaredites?” “What is the Book of Ether?” “How did they come from the Tower of Babel?” “How did they manage to find themselves in America?”… And I would have ended up having to quote him 500 pages of the book.

well there is a very nice summary of these questions at the link I provided.

Yes, thank you. And my suspicion is that he does not really want to know the answer to those questions. His questions are more facetious than inquisitive. So why should I waste my time trying to answer them?

you dont have to answer anything…I simply provided a link and a brief description to a question that was asked…nobody asked you to waste your time…but if your reason for not awnsering the question(s) is because you feel he was facetious than you should of stated that in the first place instead saying

I gave him the answer which I considered appropriate for him, and still do.

and now everyone can see the fruits of mormonism. Thanks amgid.👍

Hello again-
There is nothing wrong with the morality of the Book of Mormon. It teaches the same morality as the Bible. But in addition, it will also teach you some great truths that will “make you free”.
I don’t know the morality of the Book of Mormon. That’s the reason I asked. And I’ll ask for examples of Mormon truth(s) not already taught by the Catholic Church.
So you think you have a monopoly of quoting form the Bible?
I’m not much on quoting chapter and verse, or cutting and pasting. I don’t have the memorization skills, genetics, whatever.
And by the way, it is not the “Catholic Bible”. The Catholics did not write the Bible. The Jews did. You appropriated it from them.
I think the Jews might have a different opinion.

And by the way, it is not the “Catholic Bible”. The Catholics did not write the Bible. The Jews did. You appropriated it from them.

Really?!?!
And here I thought that the Jews wrote the OT only not the NT…
So your saying that the Jews wrote the NT also???

Zerinus/Amgid,
I love you. I really do. I am so grateful for your participation in this forum! Every time someone reads one of your nasty, haughty, hateful posts, he sees what Mormons are really all about. Not the smiling, freshly-scrubbed young men who come to the door hoping to deceive them into a mind-control cult. Not the deceptively even-handed intellectual types like BYU Boy and NDM who claim to be “just like us” and jump from topic to topic so as never to give a direct answer. No, but an honestly rotten SOB openly wanting to tear down everything that is good and decent.

You are a breath of fresh air, a Mormon with no guile, who openly shows his hatred for Christianity, the bible and the historic Christian Church. Brigham Young would take you to his bosom and say “well done, young man!”. For as Brother Brigham said,
What! Are Christians ignorant? Yes, as ignorant of the things of God as the brute beast." (Journal of Discourses 6:25)
What a guy!

You, amgid/zerinus/whatever are an inspiration to us all! Keep up the good work! Let us hie to Kolob! Away!!!

Paul
