Hi. I’ve got a lot of family and friends against mixed race marriages, specifically races that are a visibly different color. They say that it’s because (1) they wouldn’t want to put their children in a kind of “I don’t know where I belong” state of mind, (2) they want their children to “look like them”, and (3) who would purposefully put their children in a position where they will struggle with society to be accepted?
I was wondering what the Catholic Church says about mixed-race marriages, because I feel that it’s important to embrace ALL ethnicities… I mean, Jesus didn’t just die for the European race.
How can I respond to this kind of prejudice?
Thanks.
