What does the church teach about referring to transgender people?

In what way are they affected by referencing them in conversations that don’t include them? When someone speaks to you does that person say ‘he’ or ‘she’ when talking to you or do they call you by your name or ‘you’? The personal pronoun thing is pure manipulation.

You’re right that it’s not a third sex. It’s a mix of XX and XY chromosomes in the same person. So they’re partially male and partially female. In that case, neither “he” nor “she” is really an accurate pronoun.

As for trans people, I’m curious if that means they have an intersex condition or if their psychology and biology are disintegrated. Or if their neurology and anatomy can actually differ — then what is their biological sex?

And what sin are intersex persons committing?
Those intersex persons who mutilate their bodies are committing sins against the 5th commandment.
There is little about about the church that is attractive to people who are trans. Read what you and others wrote about them on this thread and others. Why would they turn to the Catholic God? They are real people who read internet forums and stumble upon threads describing them as sinners and mentally ill for dealing with their dysphoria the best way they know how.
The Church is not in the business of making itself attractive. It is in the business of teaching Truth. It is in the business of helping us attain Heaven for a much longer time than the short time we live on this Earth with what we think are imperfect bodies.

Contrary to what many people believe, “what makes me happy right now” is not always best in the long run.

You might want to read up on what it means to be Intersex. Intersex people were born looking the way they do, they didn’t have any surgery. You’re probably confusing Intersex people with Transgender people, some of whom do have surgery.

Intersex people include, for example, those with androgen insensitivity syndrome (AIS). The chromosomes of people with AIS are male (XY) but because of a genetic mutation, they’re not sensitive to the testosterone which would normally have caused them to start developing male physical characteristics in the womb. Instead, the fetus develops with female physical characteristics even though the chromosomes are genetically male. People with AIS are identified as female at birth because they have outward female physical characteristics and they grow up as female. They typically don’t even realize that they’re genetically male until they fail to menstruate at puberty and a genetic test is performed. Since they’re not responsible for the way they were born, looking the way they do can’t be a sin.

Nice explanation. Also nice how you corrected without being insulting.

Do you have a link to that report? The numbers you presented seem outlandish. I’d love to read it.
No I don’t. I read it a while ago, and took notes for future reference. As I recall, they came from multiple sources. I’ll look through some docs I saved on Pocket, and see if I still have them.

I don’t have links to the original sources, but I plugged “percentage of transgender who commit suicide” into Bing search, and these are the top 4 things that popped up.

I’m more interested in a source that proves that X number of boys and girls experience gender confusion by X years of age. The numbers you presented seem difficult to believe.
Again, I’m not sure, it may have been in an article about peer pressure being a factor in such large numbers of pre-teens. I Binged “gender dysphoria peer pressure” and these results popped up. If this is true, then the seemingly large numbers may be inflated by those who are not truly gender dysphoric but are just trying to be part of the “in” crowd. Until they outgrow trying to be part of the “in crowd”. Just speculating here…

The American Psychological Association made the change for political rather than scientific reasons, which is fairly obvious and disappointing, but not surprising.
Yes… The APA has changed - even reversed - their ‘gospel’ in matters re: sexuality

Church Teachings on Sex take precedence over the varying opinions of Man

The Church Teaches that there exists but Two Fundamental Forms of Humanity: Male and Female

It also Teaches: Ultimately All Humanity shall be Judged into Two Groups: Sheep and Goats.

perhaps you need to read this…! pride- is excessive belief in one’s own abilities, that interferes with the individual’s recognition of the grace of God. It has been called the sin from which all others arise. Pride is also known as Vanity.

envy - is the desire for others’ traits, status, abilities, or situation.

gluttony- is an inordinate desire to consume more than that which one requires.

lust- is an inordinate craving for the pleasures of the body.

anger) is manifested in the individual who spurns love and opts instead for fury. It is also known as Wrath.

greed- is the desire for material wealth or gain, ignoring the realm of the spiritual. It is also called Avarice or Covetousness.

sloth- is the avoidance of physical or spiritual work.

Remember what you are talking about, the DEVIL deceives your senses. Be compassionate, but you must console the person not to change to what God has given them. We are all called to carry our cross ! All of us, anything else is from the HUMAN aspect. Padre Pio was disgusted with homosexuals, and their ways, remember that !

Was he disgusted with homosexuals themselves for being homosexuals or just with their ways?

Probably just with their ways…

After all - how would one know if anyone had sexual attraction to those of their gender yet remained chaste unless a person announces it?

mmrtech said that “Pedre Pio was disgusted with homosexuals and their ways,” which would mean that he found both the people themselves and what they did disgusting. So, I was asking mmrtech to clarify since this would seem to be contrary to what the Catholic Church teaches.

Finding an unrepentant sinner and his sin disgusting is hardly against Church teaching. Finding a repentant sinner disgusting would be.

The Catechism say, “The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity.” It doesn’t say that sensitivity and compassion are only due to repentant homosexuals. So, would it be respectful, compassionate and sensitive to tell a homosexual that they’re disgusting? Probably not.
