Just wondering what other people have done this year and in the past that helps keep Jesus as a center point in Lent.

We are doing a night a week of no tv and no lights. Gives us a whole evening to praise Jesus and focus on reading scripture. So far so good for my wife and I.
No lights? Makes it difficult to read scripture in the evening then, doesn’t it?

Wow…your nine year old gave up her bed? I find that pretty impressive. Future nun, indeed! 🙂
My wife and I are very proud of Emmas faith. Ever since she was little she has wanted to be a sister. Our priest let her start serving in the mass when she was 5. Every year she humbles us with her lenten observances. We told her when she started that if she wasn’t sleeping well and she was cranky she would have to choose something else…She has been doing well without a bed.

My husband and I have given up fast food ~ though this is the second year in a row ~ harder for him than for me, but we wanted to do something together.

We have also started attending church on a regular basis. I am guilty of being a C&E, and sometimes in between, cradle Catholic… I thought Lent was as good of a time as any to put that bad habit to rest.

Not surprisingly, my husband and I only have 1 day off together ~ Sundays… and it has now become our favourite day of the week.
