What edition of the Liturgy of the Hours do you use?

I use the CBP Christian Prayer. Mainly because of the inspiring art work.

I would love to obtain the Divine Office but it would have to be Prevatican 2 of course!

You might want to take a look at the Anglican Breviary. It is basically the 1955 Roman Breviary translated into beautiful english for use by Anglicans. It has recently been reprinted.

Anybody out here heard of or use the online resource Universalis (http://www.universalis.com/)? I have used it for night prayer and found it to be helpful, though I’d eventually like to buy a hard-copy of the Liturgy of the Hours (darn college budget 🙂 ).

I voted for Magnificat/Little Office BVM because at this point in our lives we are too busy to take the time for more than one Psalms, the Gospel Canticle and the prayers. But, we own both Christian Prayer and Shorter Christian Prayer plus the Lectionary of the Saints of Carmel, whose feast days we celebrate as Lay Carmelites. When my dh returns to work I will probably use Christian Prayer again and do the whole office instead of parts of it.

I have never prayed the LOTH but was just given a copy that is I think a Paulist edition so I intend to look into it.

I use the Christian Prayer. At first It was a bit confusing, but I am quite comfortable with it now. I carry it with me when I leave the house in the morning, and pray at the local park(an oasis in the city) a few blocks from my home. It’s kind of nice sitting among the trees and praying.

While the seminary I attend issues the single volume “Christian Prayer” I prefer to use the 4 volume “Liturgy of the Hours” because it has the office readings included.

I was speaking with a Deacon Friend a while back who had a small version that he carries and suggested that I get it. All I can remember is that it came in a red, black or white cover. The Latin translation was on the right hand page.

Does anyone know which one this is?

I’m not aware of it being available in colors other than burgundy, but it sounds like Lauds and Vespers Latin/English per annum. I couldn’t find it at Scepter Press’s website, but here is a link from a Catholic book shop. (NB that the English translation is not approved for public recitation, but the Latin is from the editio typica and hence always fair game)

Four Volume set of course. I want to get the original in latin but it is too costly at the moment.

For those who want the old Brivery it can be obtained at St. Bonaventure Press via their website.
