… saying that Fr. Corapi had been placed “on administrative leave from priestly ministry, in accordance to the Code of Cannon Law of the Catholic Church.”
“We have an allegation that Father Corapi has behaved in a manner unbecoming of a priest and are duty-bound to conduct an investigation in this accusation.”
Fr. Sheehan said it was “important to keep in mind that this action in no way implies Fr. Corapi is guilty of the allegation.
Fr. Corapi does not belong to a religious order. He belongs to a society of apostolic life of diocesan right. A society of “diocesan right” is overseen by one local bishop on behalf of the Church, whereas those of “pontifical right,” like Maryknoll missionaries and the Sulpicians, are directly overseen by the Vatican. As such, if Fr. Corapi’s priestly faculties were suspended, this action would have been taken by the bishop of Corpus Christi, who oversees the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity (SOLT).I am wanting to know more about this, too… All I know from what I’ve found online is vaguely what he was accused of and how his order has responded by removing him from his priestly faculties.
An archdiocese or prelate will do this automatically when there is an unverified allegation against any priest.I had not even heard of him until about a week ago. I was watching a Catholic video on YouTube and one of the suggestion to the right and was very impressed by Father’s message.
Having seen the thread you started I did a quick Internet search.
