I wasn’t aware about it till I saw this post.
We definitely need to pray for everyone involved here.
May God guide them to the truth.

Again Fr Corapi is not out as some posters keep insisting - he is on administrative leave while things are investigated.

Yes there is a difference between civil and criminal and in this matter they have said it is all civil - but we also need to be cognizant that it should not matter to us that each charge is still Canonical.

He basically is removed from tv and from doing his duties because this girl said she was having an affair with him and he had been having affairs with other women. This IS the devil.
Im not one of those who thinks the devil is to blame for everything.

Its either:

The truth or she is a liar looking to malign him cuz she was fired for wrongdoing OR she is mentally disturbed. 3 possibilities. Question, if He IS guilty (hopefully not) are u prepared to call him the devil or a priest who got caught up in his own celebrity and backslid?

To be fair, there are many more possiblities, remember the “disturbed” came from him and there are other people involved. If she posted on facebook, andif he is involved at all with his sites, emails, etc, or has someone else moniter them, this was a “no brainer” and not much of an investigation would be needed. You would have all this information in order and being a smart businessman, he wouldn’t get blindsided.
Even “disturbed” people have things happen to them and witness things, but I wont say she is until the end…that to me is slandering her because of an affection to him.

He went on about a man who was a friend and priest who is now driving a cab because of a mentally disturbed woman who made 1 accusation. God help me, I know my gut could be wrong, but that sounded fishy at the time, there had to have been something else, and he seemed so paranoid about these things happening, he should have been more careful.

I know one day we will hear something but its not like an civil investigation, which would have been over a while ago, with someone assigned to just that, as they said, It was Ash Wednesday and it’s past Easter…who would have thought that?
If someone can do this to an innocent man, I don’t know what the future holds, I know he isn’t being treated like the everyday parish priest. Maybe the notarity is making it worse.

I feel for EWTN and others who are having wrath aimed at them by "good Catholics’ who hodl them to blame. If they know more and tell, they are sinning, if they do what they were told to do, they are sinning, everyone reacts with emotion and not their heads.

His faculties were revoked?!? I thought he was just removed from active ministry…

Sancte Michael Archangele, defende nos in proelio; contra nequitiam et insidias diaboli esto praesidium. Imperat illi Deus; supplices deprecamur: tuque, Princeps militiae coelestis, Satanam aliosque spiritus malignos, qui ad perditionem animarum pervagantur in mundo, divina virtute in infernum detrude. Amen
No, he didn’t have his faculties revoked. Nobody knows anything at this point (publicly) except we should all pray for all involved. He’s simply out of public ministry for the duration of the investigation.

Does anyone have any idea how long this is going to take to shake out? Fr Corapi has inspirred me in many ways.

No one knows anything. That’s pretty much the only thing I know about the situation. :o

If I had to guess, I would say that I wouldn’t count on the process moving swiftly. These things generally tend to err on the side of taking too much time rather than too little. This helps to make certain that when a judgment is reached, it is the most fair and informed judgment possible. To do otherwise would invite criticisms of being too hasty by any who disagreed with the verdict and would cast doubt on its accuracy.

I think the longer it takes, if it’s Fall and you don’t hear anything, it’s not good. A simple case is just that, a complicated one means there are lots of things to look into, lots of talks, questoins, etc. I would suspect if God forbid, it does drag on and on, they want you to forget, but with Fr. Corapi, it wont happen, he was too big of a presence, although I’m sure interest will wane and life will go on. He wasn’t that active for quite a while so it’s not like he was on TV “live” very often.

I remember with Fr. Francis on EWTN, that was done much better I thought, he had something read and then everyone was told he was “discerning”. After a while it ebbed and then he had a website to answer questions and then let it go “black” and hopefully is living his life as good as he can behind the camera instead of in front of it. All the energy fans and supporters had, from anger, sadness, some were glad, went into other things.

I hope for everyone involved, summer doesn’t come without any answers. Father deserves to move on either preaching or doing something else and his listeners deserve to have some peace of mind. That said, we really don’t have to know why even if he doesn’t return, but being in the pubic eye, it would be nice.

I think this thread should be closed and end the irresponsible speculation. This is why I dislike the way the church has to handle these cases. Immediately people think the priest is guilty.

Padre Pio prevailed and I am confident so will Fr. Corapi. God knows the truth.
Slow down here. P. Pio was never suspended nor was he accused of misconduct. We Franciscans wish that this would stop. What actually happened was that P. Pio’s fame was attracting a lot of unwanted attention and was disrupting the life of the brothers. At the time, the Guardian of the house and the Minister of the Province had no idea what was going on with P. Pio. They knew that there were these very strange wounds and that P. Pio had some supernatural experiences. But they had no proof of anything or explanation for it.

Just as in this case, the SOLT leadership knows that there is something out of the ordinary happening here. They have not proof or explanations yet.

Superiors, be they those of a religious order, such as the Friars Minor Capuchin or the SOLT, have a duty to protect the Church, the institute and the individual. There are several ways in which Canon Law provides for this. One is suspension, which is Fr. Corapi’s case. The other is seclusion, which was P. Pio’s case. P. Pio was never suspended. He happily celebrated the mass and other sacraments for the novices.

Neither men was punished and neither was thrown into a dungeon. Both were told the same thing, stay out of the mainstream until this can be understood and decisions are made. Neither man was abused or mistreated by his superiors. Both men have humbly obeyed.

There are always going to be people who see further than everyone else and who believe they know the whole truth. These usually only see the sensationalist side of things. The real side is that when something out of the ordinary happens to a priest or a religious who is very public, superiors are bound by Church law to examine it very closely and to protect the Church, the institute and the person. It is not about punishing. Life is not about punishing. We need to stop thinking that way. Sometimes difficult decisions are made by people in authority without the intent to punish.

There is an apologist on Catholic Answers Radio whom I like very much, his last name is Coffin. I like his response to the Fr. Corapi questino.

MYOB

We all need to do that.

OK, Brother, whatever. As you wish. I’m not going to disagree because you know better and I’m too tired. Besides, I enjoy my CAF membership.

I was only referring to Fr. Corapi’s obedience to his superiors anyway. That was all I was comparing.

Time to unsubscribe from this thread anyway.

Pax† and good night.

Mon Dieu! Est-terrible!

:knight1: We must pray and defend Fr. Corapi from this terrible scandal. Although, I don’t quite understand what exactly is going on, by the looks of what that woman said,“I will destroy you”, it can’t be good. 😦

Ahhh, I miss the good ol’ days when words like that, if they fell on the ears of the King, would immediately result in the execution of such a person. sigh But, times have changed and we have to use our Christian powers to tolerate and endure.

With prayers and blessings,

“Off with their heads!” because a person gets hysterical may not be such a good idea. 😃

I don’t listen to Catholic Answers Radio, so I did not hear Patrick Coffin’s statement regarding this situation. However, here is what he posted in his blog last month when the news was made public:
One thing I am is excessively tired of the gossip, the speculations, and the “certainties” expressed by his critics and his supporters. No one knows the truth, or at least not the full truth. Yet.
So let’s all take a deep breath, say a prayer for Father Corapi and for the woman who accuses him, and for his superior, and then start minding our own business. It’s Lent. Just say no to obsessing about it.
patrickcoffin.net/?p=634

Of course, this is his opinion and not the opinion of Catholic Answers. However, I agree that prayer for all persons concerned is probably the best course for everyone.
