Arent there over 60 laws that one would have to observe as a convert to Judaism?
Maybe a knowledgable observant Jewish poster can clear this up.
Also, I dont think they encourage converts due to the difficulty of the rules for converts.

This particular kind of mass apostacy from Christianity is not what I had imagined by any strectch of the imagination.

One thing would not change no matter how impossible the premise is of the thread.

People would still observe Christmas.

(except for the Jw converts of course)

Oy vey!

This is why we need that prayer back in mass. You know which one I’m talking about. 👍

You don’t have to worry about mass conversion because I for one wouldn’t convert.

THere were so many errors, misstatements and strange things posted about Judaism on this thread that I wouldn’t know where to begin to address them.

"37. Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? 38. Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost" Acts 2:37-38 KJV
Peter did not tell them to be more observant of the Law and they will then be saved.

I’m unfamiliar with Catholic theology respecting Jews who fail to convert, but I suspect that those who are saved are saved through Christ and his grace as their unseen savior.

They will no longer hold that God is triune.

They will accept the fact that the God of the
Old Testament offers salvation to all
who will acknowledge Him as their Creator,
and who will follow His law. That God, in the
Old Testament, offers both forgiveness and
salvation even to those who were not members
of Judaism, who would accept and follow the Noahide Laws.

“If your sins be as scarlet, they will become as white as snow.”
Isaiah 1:18

They will no longer have to think up reasons for
why we needed a Savior, when God offered both
forgiveness and salvation millenia before Jesus of
Nazareth. [St. Paul can be credited for the concept
of Original Sin, which “required” a Savior.]

All Christian inter-denominational squabbling would cease.

Not really any improvement over Christ as savior at all.

“improvement”? And here I thought that salvation
was salvation. When Paul has to “confect” a
“reason” for a Savior, I’ll stick with the first offer.🙂

Modern “Judaism” is a religion of apostates.
That is your view, not the position of the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church says that Judaism IS a response to the call of God and that the Jews are STILL God’s people. They’ve not been cut off, Christians have been grafted in.

Here, Here. Very strange.

Especially the comment that Israel is a racist state.

I am thinking that not many of us have a solid knowledge of Observant Judaism. In my opinion it would be far more difficult then being a Catholic: even a good Catholic. Back in the 30’s my mother cooked for a well to do Jewish family. Roast beef every Friday night and she couldn’t even sample it…
You have no idea 🙂

A convert to Judaism is a Jew and is obligated to obey the commandments to the same extent as any other Jew. It is not part of the Jewish theology that we are waiting for the world to convert to Judaism.

For a convert, it would be difficult, for an natural born Jew who was raised in an observant home, it would be NATURAL. My Orthodox Rabbi friend struggled to be able to eat properly while we were in Oaklahoma together, but in Brooklyn, it’s part of his daily rythm of life.

I think there are comments in here I find to be Anti-Semitic biases. I don’t think Judaism has put much focus on converting individuals, partially Gentiles.

I don’t think the Jewish people themselves have been cut off from God’s plan. We Catholics believe that they are our elders because it is from them we have our origins in Jesus, Yeshua.

With some brief exceptions Judaism has not been a prosteltizing group. Briefly before the coming of Christ there was a movement in the gentile world to gain converts. The closest we have today are the Chabad, but they reach out to fallen away or inactive Jews, not Gentiles.
