What happens if everyone converts to Judaism?

I think there are comments in here I find to be Anti-Semitic biases. I don’t think Judaism has put much focus on converting individuals, partially Gentiles.

I don’t think the Jewish people themselves have been cut off from God’s plan. We Catholics believe that they are our elders because it is from them we have our origins in Jesus, Yeshua.
but how does that square with “ex cathedra nulla salus”?

Am I missing something here? Does this theory that Jews can reject Christ and still get a “get out of jail free card” have any merit? I know the Lord made a covenant with his people but I always thought that this was done so that the second covenant could take place. So the Jews can still achieve salvation whilst rejecting the covenant? Any all-out rejection of Christ I would believe would be against what we know thru the gospels as salvation.

God Bless,

Why are religions, especially Western religions, so darned secretive and obfuscatory when it comes to questions like this?

Shouldn’t there be a huge FAQ and Not-so-FAQ available freely online to answer all of these kinds of questions?

Wouldn’t that be more effective then people askings these kinds of questions and needing THREE PAGES or more to find the answer?

I agree that some of the posts here reflect a lack of knowledge of Judaism and are wrought with stereotypes. Sorry, but I’m a convert to Catholicism from Judaism, so this subject is dear to my heart. Any Jew that converts to Catholicism does so because they see the fullness of God’s revelation through Jesus Christ. There can be no turning back. If anything, Catholicism has makes me appreciate Judaism even more.

That is your view, not the position of the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church says that Judaism IS a response to the call of God and that the Jews are STILL God’s people. They’ve not been cut off, Christians have been grafted in.
Judaism was a valid response to the call of God but it cannot be anymore. Those who say it is are denying Christ. And Christ will deny them.

In what way are the Jews of today “all out rejecting Christ”? You have to know Him to reject Him. Please prove to us that today’s Jews know Christ and are rejecting Him.

The Church’s teaching on salvation is clearly stated in the Catechism, as is its explanation of the term “outside the Church there is no salvation”. If we are Catholics, we should accept the Church’s explanation and not try to make it either harsher or milder than that.

Isnt it pretty obvious…They believe the man Jesus walked the earth yet do not accept him as the Son of God. They do not believe that he died for our sins, ergo they do not believe Christ is needed for salvation. Please, if I am misinformed at all do not hesitste to correct me.

sorry, i meant to say “ex eclesia nulla salus” – there is no salvation outside the church. are you saying that the jews are in some kind of communion with the catholic church?
No. I do believe that is possible for Jew to be saved “through no fault of their own clause.”

CCC 847 "This** affirmation is not aimed at those who**, through no fault of their own, do not know Christ and his Church:

Those who,** through no fault of their own, do not know the Gospel of Christ or his Church**, but who nevertheless seek God with a sincere heart, and, moved by grace, try in their actions to do his will as they know it through the dictates of their conscience - those too may achieve eternal salvation.

Furthermore,

839 "Those** who have not yet received the Gospel are related to the People of God in various ways**."325

The relationship of the Church with the Jewish People. When she delves into her own mystery, the Church, the People of God in the New Covenant, discovers her link with the Jewish People,326 "the first to hear the Word of God."327 The Jewish faith, unlike other non-Christian religions, is already a response to God’s revelation in the Old Covenant. To the Jews “belong the sonship, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises; to them belong the patriarchs, and of their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ”,328 "for the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable."329

840 And when one considers the future, God’s People of the Old Covenant and the new People of God tend towards similar goals: expectation of the coming (or the return) of the Messiah. But one awaits the return of the Messiah who died and rose from the dead and is recognized as Lord and Son of God; the other awaits the coming of a Messiah, whose features remain hidden till the end of time; and the latter waiting is accompanied by the drama of not knowing or of misunderstanding Christ Jesus.

I think that the rejection of Jesus is not simply a question of whether someone tells me Jesus is GOd and I say “No.” I would first have to believe he was God and then reject him. Is this a correct statement from a Catholic perspective?

No then you would be a heretic.

I imagine that many will disagree with me, but I believe you are substantially correct. How can one reject something he has never held or known to be true. Those who know, not those who have been told, that the Catholic Church is the true Church are the ones in hot, very hot water.🙂

IMHO I see it as this way; say you find out you are adopted and you thought you had your real biological parents all the time, you look like them and act like them and all. They come to you and say no you were adopted, so your real parents come and show you all the paper work and proof and birth certif and all, but you don’t know them and you don’t accept it and you don’t want to get to know them and you say give me time please. Or you say no way I don’t want you if I wait long enough my REAL parents will come, if I just wait long enough or I will see them when I get to heaven or they will come later in my life and my grandchildren will meet them.

So you may learn about your real parents while you are waiting and waiting, getting to know them if you allow yourself to believe and allow your heart to not be hardened.

Then one day, you feel it in your heart and you reason with your mind you go to a mass and you see all the things that are part of the OT is part of the NT and you HEAR the words with your heart and soul and yeah it clicks, but meanwhile you love the One True God of Abraham and then it happens like magic of the soul.

That is what happened with me when I went to Mass. Praise God.

According to most Christian sects, the Jews “cut a deal” with God that lets them do their own thing, indifferent to the religiosity of the rest of the world. If you’re a Jew, Jesus doesn’t matter, you’ve already got an “in” with God.

Although Judaism is chiefly a racial religion - Israel, for instance, exists to preserve Jewish racial purity, letting in even atheist Jews but placing great immigration barriers to anyone not of Jewish descent - it is possible to convert. The Jews don’t encourage this and don’t proselytize, but it does happen.

Presumably, then, a convert Jew gets “in on the deal” with God, and thus can dump Jesus.

So, what if for some reason (something in the water, who knows) everybody decides to convert to Judaism? Seriously, one could simply look at both religions and decide which one is less of a hassle, and one might well decide Judaism is. If everyone so essays the matter, what does that imply for Christianity?
The breakfast industry would be changed forever.

Judaism was a valid response to the call of God but it cannot be anymore. Those who say it is are denying Christ. And Christ will deny them.
How can you hold onto the concept of agape or unconditional love and the concept of Christ denying Jews for worshipping God?

And doesn’t Christ himself assure us the Jews will convert before the end?

I’m with Pope Benedict XVI on this one—the Resurrection did not mark the day of damnation for righteous Jews; the New Covenant did not mark the day of judgment of those who hewed to the Old.

I have actually heard on EWTN that some Jews that have converted to Catholicism want to help the many Catholics return to to their (Catholic) practicing faith and not just be sitting on their faith but active. And I have met some that also say this.

I’m seeing this more and more and meeting more jews who are active and not the reformed jew a different jew, I don’t know if they have a catagory for this or not except maybe Christian Jew, or as I know Hebrew Catholics A.

Will we be seeing more in the mass?
Is this another schism but not sure if this the correct word for it?
Will it be a Hannekah / Christmas?

We already have an advent candles that are similar and the Jews want to embrace us more than some other religions.
