I know veiling questions pop up all the time, but instead of discussing why or why not, I just wanted to ask the gals of the CA forums which kind of head covering they prefer. I usually wear a black lace mantilla, but I’m wanting to switch it over to a plain cotton kerchief tied under my chin or behind my head. I was also thinking of maybe getting a cloche hat or beret for this winter.

What do you prefer? Pictures would be fun if you have any on hand. 😛

I don’t overthing the veil thing. 😉
I have a lace-type veil --and-- I collect the ends under my hair in the back.
🤷

I like hats so I wear hats, so if I wear a head covering for Mass–or any other occasion–it is a hat that goes with my outfit.

I don’t have any photos - but I mostly wear a lace veil, or mantilla. In the winter I will also wear hats. I have a couple of cute velvet cloches and two wool berets that will wear also. Our Church can be VERY cold in the winter, so I have my head covering do double duty on those days. 😉

I saw a woman at Mass two Sundays ago who had the most beautiful scarf covering her head. It was actually more like a shawl, maybe a very very light wool or challis fabric, with fringe on the edge. It was black with dark fall colored flowers, very subtle. She had it folded corner to corner then over her head and lightly draped around her neck. She looked very beautiful and very humble at the same time.

I have two mantillas that I pull out for Christmas/Easter/Tridiuum.
I have a chapel cap that I bought for my daughter, but I have been using it. There is a larger veil at Halo-works that I really really want.

Black, Brown, Ivory, Silver/gray, mantillas.

I also sometimes scarf, Hijab style.

Then, I also have some lace kerchiefs.

Ivory and Black berets.

The few times I do veil (when we make it to a EF mass, which is rare), I usually just use a scarf of some sort. I would like a mantilla. 🙂

I have two mantilla’s - black and cream. I have a few scarves, but haven’t got the hang of them. I am looking for hats, Ladies - where do you find them?

Believe it or not, I found mine at WalMart!!! :o I never shop there any more (issues with their business practices), but about six years ago I found these two hats that I totally fell in love with and the guy I was dating at the time bought them for me.

Try resale shops also - I have seen some wonderful hats at really nice resale shops - not Salvation Army type places, but true resale shops.

My two wool berets were from JCPenny - they have some cute hats too sometimes.

🙂 Ooh, they have really nice stuff. Pricey though, but some good things. What are you looking at currently?

Awesome!!! I did see a couple of nice ones at Target, but didn’t have time to try them on for size.

Sigh, I want hats like they had in all those great old movies from the 30’s through the 50’s. Course I would need the whole outfit as well, and it wouldn’t hurt if I actually looked like Grace Kelly. 🍿 :tiphat:

Do not send me a private message please.
If you want to criticize me then you’ll have to do it here.
You told me women were not supposed to cover their heads.
And actually got very angry with me.

Now you say you cover your head?

Black mantilla = any scarf that covers my bad hair.
Black beret - cool:cool:
