what i like about Mormons

Good day people. so much negativity here directed to our Mormon friends latley. including from my own. how bout we use this thread to state what we LIKE about the Mormons. haters feel free to dig deep inside to find something positive to say. I will start it off.
Mormons are 1 pro-family. 2 Mormons encourage Godly living. 3. Mormons have a strong sense of loving God, and their neighbors as themselves. 4. Mormons are pro-marriage, and stand with Catholics, that it is between a man and a woman. 5. Mormons are pro- community, and believe in having set standards in their communities, especially out in utah, where their neighborhoods are built around their Churches. this should get us started. please, keep negetive comments off this thread. we can debate doctrinal differences someplace else. Peace 🙂
 
Mormons have a strong stand against substance abuse. Sexual morality is very important to them,

Mormon guys are polite, and Mormon girls generally dress modestly. They’re very nice people. 👍
 
This is interesting. Not too long ago Marcus Grodi had an ex-Mormon on his program, The Journey Home on EWTN.

This guy had gradually become Catholic and he described the reactions of people as he went through the process.

He “lost” his family and friends because of it, but was strong enough to persevere.

One of his closest friends said, “You know, we have such good values. Family, honesty, purity, no smoking or drinking. It’s too bad the Mormon faith isn’t the true faith because it’s a good way to live.”

And that is true. It would be wonderful if we Catholics could live our faith, the true faith, in the same outward ways that Mormons do. They also value their communities and take care of one another.

Theirs is a nearly ideal lifestyle. If only they hadn’t been misled in the beginning by their “founder.” Of course, then who knows what would have happened.
 
I was raised LDS. I served a Mission, I was married in the Temple, I served various callings in the LDS church.
Mormons are good people. Family Oriented, Strong Morals, Contribute Positively to their respective communities.
Most of all in the LDS faith is where I first learned of Jesus Christ, it is where I first developed my Testimony that Christ is our Savior and the great sacrifice he made on my behalf. For that I will always have a soft spot in my heart for the LDS people and their faith.

The hate messages come from a very small group of Mormon apostates; and they always end up by discrediting themselves, as they have repeatedly done on this board already. They don’t hurt Mormonism or the Mormons. The irony of it is that it is the non-Mormons who finally get outraged, and end up coming to the defense of the Mormons. Mormon don’t need to do anything.

But returning to the topic, the thing that I like most about Mormonism is that it is true! 🙂
 
yes! this is what im talking about! how about hurricane katrina? they were one of the first ones in with water, food, and other essentials. 🙂
 
oh yes, and i forgot to mention. my driver is a Mormon. and my Sgt. is a Mason. so its kinda interesting. you have a Mormon a Catholic, and a Mason, all with the same goal. to make it home in one piece. now that is UNITY 😉 peace 🙂

I feel the same way. I LOVED being a Mormon. The people will give you the shirt on their backs if they knew it would help you. Their values of self-reliance and family are stellar. Even, in it’s own quirky way, the doctrine is pretty cool. But wrong.
Now, I enjoy being a Catholic, especially since Christ is here, but there are times (generally, around the time of General Conference) when I miss the comraderie of the old ward.

Actually, it is LDS who discredit themselves when they continually deflect and believe such incredible LDS apologetics

I disagree. I served my mission in Honduras. Later, in the Army, I was stationed in Honduras for a year. I was able to visit many of the people I baptized and apologize to them for leading them astray. Many of those subsequently left the LDS and returned the the Church of their roots: The Catholic Church

But returning to the topic, the thing that I like most about Mormonism is that it is true! 🙂

I find it sad that, on a thread designed to be positive, a Mormon brought the negativity. I responded only to defend and correct your errors, and hopefully, no one will have to do that on this thread again.

I tried to start a thread like this about 10 days ago. It was a thread to be positive about another’s faith. Several Catholics posted good about other faiths, incliuding the LDS faith. Only ONE Mormon posted…and that was only after I shamed him into posting. Why is it that the people who are accused of being rude are the ones looking for good and the ones always playing the victim never say anything nice?

This is why I love the Catholic Church. I attended the Basilica near McAllen, Texas today. What a beautiful Mass that was!

I respect most about the Mormons their togetherness, their home teaching, family home evening, and willingness to help one another.

sirthomasmore, thank you for joining us. your views are always welcome. please dont think i started this thread because of your threads. this was not the case. there has simply been alot of bashing all sides lately, and i was getting tired of seeing it. normally Catholics and Mormons get along very well here on CAF. i think your threads ask some very important questions, especially with your background. i do the same with fundamentalist. this one and the other one for protestants were started so we could have a breather. thank you so much for joining us. and i know that the questions you ask are out of love for our Mormon friends. Peace Love and Grace to you.🙂

All these things are truly Christian behavior, which in my opinion is much more important than condemning others to HAYUHL.

But from what I’ve read here, Mormons are beginning to turn a blind eye to contraception. Is this true?? Can some Mormons here confirm or clarify the LDS position?

If so, they are on the fast track to moral relativism and will lose their moral clarity just like the Protestants.

I did n ot think it was because of me. I had already tried a thread like this. I was just dismayed that, on your positive thread, the only negativity was LDS.
 
I have only known Mormons since 2003 and I liked them very much. We shared some of the same values in purity and honesty and family life. Several and myself considered starting a business and really supporting each other. They moved away and I haven’t been able to meet any other Mormons since then.

I thought the Mormons had outstanding youth programs, very appropriate for their age group and tastes.

I like Mitt Romney, although he being a politician, I am sure Mormons would disagree!

i went through basic and A.I.T. with mitt romneys cousin.lol! he was a great guy. asked about mitt, and he said he was decent, tho a little stand offish sometimes. but what politician isnt? 😃 Peace 🙂
