Hi Pax
You have no appreciation of history. Consider the Jews and Jesus. Jesus was their Messiah, foreigners, the 3 wise men figured out who He was, the Jews didn’t. Jesus was condemned by the high priest of the Jews, wasn’t he?
I find it to be hypocritical that Mormons buy J Smith and his tablets by don’t even know about other modern day “divine” interventions. I think that when Jesus, or Mary, appear to someone the initial reaction of the Church is non-belief. That is true now and has been. As I said, Thomas rejected the idea that Jesus rose.
So, if Jesus shows up He can stay at my house and He doesn’t even have to fix my arm. My arm doesn’t work. But that is off subject.
Bye the way, does the well documented, and accepted by the Church, appearances by Jesus since 200AD give Revelation a bad time? I mean isn’t Revelation supposed to be about the second coming? If Jesus shows up for a long weekend can he do that without all the other stuff in Revelation? I think He can, He is God, He can do whatever He wants.
As far as my fellow Catholics, well if God loves them who am I to complain, or not love them. But I stand by what I said. Today the Church has the charismatic movement. Tongues, healings and other outpourings of the spirit are common. I bet the vast majority of Catholics think charismatics are crazy.I’ll bet the vast majority of people on this site are uncomfortable with the charismatics.
God is alive and He lives in your hearts and souls. God does not sleep. He Blesses those He loves, sometimes in ways that are unique, or unusual.
So Pax, how would you feel if you thought Jesus talked to you or came to see you and lets say, left roses, but nobody believed you? Believe me, nobody would. I am not picking on you, all I am saying is that you would be no different than all the other people that Jesus, or Mary have appeared to.
There is alot I once had that I’d like to have now. Do I envy people that can use two arms? I don’t think I do. After my wife died did I envy all the couples at Church on Sunday? Yes I did. But Catholics I know, and I know many, have nothing I envy. We are all children of God. What is it that you have, my brother, that our Father has not given to me? Who does He love more?
