Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

Luke 19:27 But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.

Acts 3:23 And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.

Revelation 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

That really wasn’t very hard to do. And before you go off trying to explain them to me, let me ask if you afforded the same effort to those verses from the writings of Mohamed? The Surah is often quoted for its violent tendencies, but few people like to mention that it was the commands of Mohamed in regards to an actual physical and political conflict that they were involved in. Come the end of the wars the commands on how to treat unbelievers change. I am certainly not going to even attempt to claim that Islam is an entirely peaceful religion, or that its prophet didn’t have a great many questionable traits/flaws, but it certainly isn’t fair to just quote verses out of context like that to paint Muslims in a certain light. Yeah those verse may be used by some Muslims in much the same way some protestants like to twist the words of the bible to their particular meaning while ignoring historical context and the like, but there are many Muslim denominations out there that know better as well.
So how many Christian suicide bombers have we had of late, how many Christian stonings or beheadings or dismemberment, how many Christian calls for the slaughter of unbelievers around the world, how many demands that the Islam adopt Judeo-Christian law in lieu of Sharia in Islamic countries. Wake up, our own President has stated whatever we once might have been we are no longer a Christian nation and are one of the most Muslim countries in the world.

I think it’s odd that there is a mosque already closer to ground zero that has been there since before the Twin Towers were ever built and no one complains, and few even know it’s there. The “Ground Zero” Mosque can’t be seen from the Twin Towers former location, nor can their location be seen from the “Ground Zero” Mosque. Right now, you’d have to try to find the location as it’s surrounded mostly by abandoned retail space that has been unsold for the last few years and gets very little foot traffic because it’s too far away from the ground zero site to be of interest to the standard passers by.

I’m sure a simple web search using the words “Christian atrocities” will supply one with more than they really want when it comes to this question. — and it’s not all ancient history, unfortunately.

You act like I denied that there were Muslims out there that did evil things in the name of their religion. Yes there are bad Muslims out there, but there are also bad Christians.

Maybe not suicide bombers, but abortion clinic bombers.

Just over 30 years ago there were still very public and well known instances of violence against homosexuals in this country in God’s name.

Plenty of Christian’s and American’s of other religions expressed the opinion that we should just Nuke the whole middle east after 9/11

And their are millions of people all over the world, Christians, Muslims, and Jews a like who want to see “Sharia Law” revoked in Islamic countries in favor of their own view of what the proper legal system is. Heck I want to see “Sharia Law” revoked as well, but I would like to add to that statement by saying Middle-East Sharia Law does not really fit with what the Koran actually teaches, and most educated Muslims do not support it, even those living in the Middle East countries have protests in that regard.

And everybody tends to ignore the terrible things that many “Christian” leaders in Africa do, such as exploiting their people and imprisoning and beating gays.

Yes I agree that the worst of the Muslim world seems to be far worse than that of the Christian world, but we cannot forget that the Christian world has better living conditions and less tyrannical governments. The Middle East is a troubled region due to many factors. Sure Islam may have contributed to this, but so did western imperialism and expansionism of the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. They have had their leaders and sources of power shifted around many times by the west and it turned them into an area of constant war and political unrest. Religion is not the only thing contributing to these peoples thoughts and actions, they live in a different culture, a more violent world and scarier world where sinister men have lots of power, mostly through fear.

Again, I am Catholic, and I don’t like a great many things about Islam, but I also don’t like the idea of misrepresenting it out of fear or ignorance. Speaking out against a religion or it’s people when you are not informed about the intricacies of the religion or the culture of those practicing it is not charitable.

State the specific biblical passages where Christ orders these autrocities…or better yet, carries them out Himself.

It has prayer room inside the community center, much like there are chapels in airports and hospitals.
With prayer accomodations for over 1,000 worshippers, I’d say its a bit more than a hospital chapel.

Would you mind providing a source for this statement by our president. This is just nonsense. It continually get repeated until it is considered a fact.
You ask about Christians behaving badly. I challenge you to read the article I am posting and also click on the links to authentic documents and tell me what you think. This particular article caused me to have a serious faith crisis. I welcome your opinion.

I’m talking about the things done in his name and by the twisted reading of scripture…much the way it happens with other religions.

I think the problem is that since the Burlington Coat Factory building where they want to build this was damaged in 9/11, people think that the building of an Islamic Center & Mosque is like our planting the flag after winning a battle, that this will be seen by Moslems as an act of victory on their part.

Oddly enough, this fear is not entirely unfounded. As Raheel Raza and Tarek Ratah write:
New York currently boasts at least 30 mosques so it’s not as if there is pressing need to find space for worshippers. The fact we Muslims know the idea behind the Ground Zero mosque is meant to be a deliberate provocation to thumb our noses at the infidel. The proposal has been made in bad faith and in Islamic parlance, such an act is referred to as “Fitna,” meaning “mischief-making” that is clearly forbidden in the Koran… Building an exclusive place of worship for Muslims at the place where Muslims killed thousands of New Yorkers is not being considerate or sensitive, it is undoubtedly an act of “fitna.”… Let’s not forget that a mosque is an exclusive place of worship for Muslims and not an inviting community center. Most Americans are wary of mosques due to the hard core rhetoric that is used in pulpits. And rightly so. As Muslims we are dismayed that our co-religionists have such little consideration for their fellow citizens and wish to rub salt in their wounds and pretend they are applying a balm to soothe the pain…

As for those teary-eyed, bleeding-heart liberals such as New York mayor Michael Bloomberg and much of the media, who are blind to the Islamist agenda in North America, we understand their goodwill.
Unfortunately for us,* their stand is based on ignorance and guilt, and they will never in their lives have to face the tyranny of Islamism that targets, kills and maims Muslims worldwide, and** is using liberalism itself to destroy liberal secular democratic societies from within.***

Having other Muslims thinking the center might be a “Victory Mosque” doesn’t change the fact that 8 months ago they weren’t really getting any major complaints about the plan even though they went out of their way to make it excessively public. They stated their reasons for building there was in part a statement against the Terrorists and at the time their plan was accepted. There isn’t really any reliable evidence to support the idea of it being any sort of flag planting, and having politically conservative Muslims opposing politically liberal Muslims with empty rhetoric is just a mirror of the same thing we see come from Christians everyday. Liberals are purposely destroying our nation, Conservatives are holding back social progress in order to keep their incomes strong. I mean the idea that their is some Islamist agenda that is using Liberalism to creep in and destroy American society is pretty much tin-foil hat conspiracy territory. Like this would be the “Secret Islamist Socieities” plan
  1. Free health care for all
  2. Allow gays to marry
  3. ???
  4. Install a Muslim dictator in washington!
I mean maybe there is a small group of crazies out there who do actually have that plan, but I am not exactly shaking in my boots here. PETA can be far scarier and more real than them.

No, I think what they mean is that they use our (classical) liberal ideals against us. for example, they would use our ideals of religious liberty and being fair to the minority to gain concessions, not that they are promoting (current) liberalism against us. (Gee, all they’d have to do to do that would be to sit back and watch!)
