Yes he can but why would he? My wife is the love of my life and makes it so happy. In this situation I cannot conceive of any 'excitement’ from leaving her to be my own boss. Now I am a mere mortal and so is she. But Satan was a great angel; think how happy he must have been in the presence and love of God. This could not have been his motivation.

If he is genuinely free he can choose to act unreasonably at any moment.

Of course a free person can choose to do anything that is within their power – but I am asking for the motive for Satan’s choice of rebellion.

Is the desire for total independence not a plausible reason?

You are underestimating the power and the attraction of evil which surrounds us in this world. Why do you think there is so much cruelty, injustice, violence and bloodshed? Many people have everything they could want but they are never justified. They want more land, wealth, women, property, power and control over others. Who is responsible? Innocent little creatures? Or devils in human form?

Of course evil is attractive to me sometimes because I have character flaws and have not been made a perfect human in heaven in the presence of a loving God. But none of this applies to Satan.

You are correct – you have a choice either it is nonsense and so the story is to be rejected OR it just looks like nonsense and though you cannot explain why it is not nonsense, nevertheless you have faith.

You can go for the second. Personally I have faith that 2+2=5 and that the moon is made of green cheese!

I have great problems with this post. However the post does not answer the point I am making about the reasons that Satan had for rebelling – so let us deal with that.

God is all Truth: he cannot deceive nor be deceived. Faith does not mean believing things that are not true (2+2=5 and that moon is made of green cheese!). Faith is believing things that God has revealed simply because it is God himself who tells us so.

Post 48 had a link on the devil. Did you open it up and read it?

You comments on post 54: now I hope you are not engaging in intellectual dishonesty when faced with the truth.

I have a boy not yet two and yet he chooses one thing over another.

As to why Satan chose as he did, only he (and God) knows. We can only speculate.

Maybe you can tell us why is it you are resisting the truths so evident in these posts. If you can answer that, maybe you can answer why Satan resisted the ultimate Truth & Good.

The don’t see God as their good anymore. They see Him as the oppressor of their freedom. Freedom to do as they please away from the will of God.

How many people in our jails admit that they did the crime? That is what it takes for forgiveness of sin, admission of guilt. Think people in the eternal jail would be any different?

How could they be sorry when they blame everyone else but themselves for their misery. Or they blame it on not being clever enough, or not being understood, or that they got a bad break, or they were ignorant(of what they should know), or they didn’t understand,or they didn’t take the warning seriously, or how were they to know, or why wasn’t this talked about more, that it was so serious, or noone came back to tell them … on and on…

The only thing they are sorry about is their current desperate situation.

But to answer the original question about what would happen if hell people were allowed to mix with the heaven people.

It would be the same answer as letting all the people in jail in the whole world out to mix with us. Would that be nice?

They didn’t, because they weren’t in heaven as such. Because it is an article of our faith that once in heaven it can never be lost.
