And in another layer the historical context is a prefigurment of you explaination.
in the figurative meaning, it means an apostasy from the Divine Revelation of God, which has reigned for forty years. The beast is really, in the bigger picture, a symbol of the fallen nature of man that repeatedly arises in human history to take precedence against God’s Will.
The unfaithful among the Jews (land beast) rebel against the Messiah. Fourty years later they are trampled.
And certainly, in the last generation since the sexual revolution, humanity, or a large portion of it, mainly the first world, has scoffed utterly at Scripture and Trad as presented by the Catholic Church and has not bothered to “bury” their witness. They send gifts to one another that the world is finally free of “torture” of religious and moral obligation.
Rome celebrates that the OT Law and Prophets no longer witness against there debauchery.
The breath of life entering the witnesses and the fear of those who see them can be a symbol of the coming Minor Chastisement that will serve up unto the world the final fruits of their apostasy and wickedness, and in getting a taste of these, humanity shall begin to realize that what they thought was better for them is not. They will begin to fear God again, and feel the need to depend on Him. And as all the suffering continues, they shall discover their need not only for God in General, but in fact for the fullness of faith and grace, namely, the Catholic Church.
A remnant of faithful Jews are saved and Rome eventually recognizes Christ’s Church.
This is the perennial prophecy of the mystics: after the minor apostasy and tribulation, Christians shall be reunited and the Gospel restored and/or extended to the near totality of the world for a glorious age of Catholic peace. That would really be symbolized by the assumption of the Two Witnesses.

hope this helps!

🙂
There is no longer Jew nor greek and there is relative “peace” for the Church Militant and the Church Triumphant, assumed into heaven. From heaven the fulfilled Law and Prophets will never be silenced again.

Your explaination applies to the historical context as well.
The unfaithful among the Jews (land beast) rebel against the Messiah. Fourty years later they are trampled.

Rome celebrates that the OT Law and Prophets no longer witness against there debauchery.

A remnant of faithful Jews are saved and Rome eventually recognizes Christ’s Church.

There is no longer Jew nor greek and there is relative “peace” for the Church Militant and the Church Triumphant, assumed into heaven. From heaven the fulfilled Law and Prophets will never be silenced again.
ok, fine, I agree. Good. But do you give me credit, too? Both these layers can be true in their own right, right?

Absolutely! I alway have my brother. 🙂
thanks, Ryan, and forgive me for the times I deny you your own right. The beauty and flexiiblity of Scripture is that it can possess several layers of meaning all at once. Thank God it is not ONE meaning and ONLY one meaning.

You are forgiven. Like a said a long time ago, “give me time.” Your insights have expanded my narrow understanding of Scripture and reinforced the truths that got me interested in escatology.

God bless you. 🙂

P.S. I guess that is why it is called Revelation!

🙂 I E-Mailed to Father Jonathan Morris and I’m waiting for his answer to this question. It may be a while. Also Jesus say’s be prepared,be prepared,it’s all through the bible and if we dont ask questions how do we learn? God Bloes nancy
No, I am not saying you should not ask questions. I think it is great that you ask questions.

What I am saying is you should not rely on your own capacity alone to interpret the Scripture.

Let me put it this way, take John 6 for example. Catholics believe Jesus was speaking literally. Protestants believe He was speaking figuratively. Between these two opposing interpretations, how do you know which one is correct?
Can you on your own adjudicate?

The answer to that is plain and simple. You find the Church that Christ established and you will find the truth on this matter. Because this Church is the one to whom Christ gave the promise of not allowing the gates of hell to prevail. No other Church has that promise.

Hi Nancy,

You’re welcome. 🙂 I researched it on the web. But, I first saw a TV program on these harps so I knew they existed before I researched them.

WARNING: Spauline, do not read. Dangerous for your stress level. 😃

Hi Ryan, 🙂

Thanks for the article. I read it.

Now this is private revelation: Mystic Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich states on page 33 of Vol. 1 of The Life of Jesus Christ and Biblical Revelations:

“Henoch , Noe’s ancestor, opposed that wicked race by his teachings. He wrote much. Henoch was a very good man and one very grateful to God. In many parts of the open fields, he raised altars of stone and there the fruits of the earth flourished. He gave thanks to God and offered sacrifice to Him. Chiefly in his family was religion preserved and handed down to Noe. Henoch was taken up to Paradise. There he waits at the entrance gate, whence another (Elias) he will come again before the last day.”

I remember from reading these books several years ago, that one of these men is looking through all books ever written and is burning some and is preserving the good in others but I have not found it yet again. This is his job until he is needed on earth. I do remember reading that there really are unicorns in this place which is somewhere near where the Garden of Eden is hidden.

If I can find this again, I will let you know.

Also, I saw a program on TV within the last five years, which showed that the Jews in Jerusalem are now preparing the things for the new temple that will be built. They believe that by a miracle from God, that their temple will be re-built. Also, the Talmud states that a 10 stringed harp will be made again before the Messiah comes. They are being made right now by “Harrari Harps in Jerusalem, thought to be the first harp maker in Israel since Bible times.” israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/126936

They need an unblemished red heifer also in order to be able to build a new temple.

Hi SHW In Numbers:19:2 is the only place i can find red heifer and in the rest of the old testement they dyed the skins of all their lamb ETC red do you know the reason? What dose the colar reed symbilize? Nancy:)
Hi Nancy,

Exodus 26:14 “You shall also make a covering of ram skins dyed red for the tent, and a covering of badger skins above that.”

The color red:
“As soon as the flames burst forth, the priest, standing outside the pit in which the pile was built up, took cedarwood, hyssop, and ‘scarlet’ wool, asking three times as he held up each: ‘Is this cedarwood? Is this hyssop? Is this scarlet?’ so as to call to the memory of everyone the Divine ordinance. Then tying them together with the scarlet wool, he threw the bundle upon the burning heifer. The burnt remains were beaten into ashes by sticks or stone mallets and passed through coarse sieves; then divided into three parts – one of which was kept in the Temple-terrace (the Chel), the other on the Mount of Olives, and the third distributed among the priesthood throughout the land”

The cedarwood has a sweet fragrance, depicting the sweetness of the aroma of the sacrifice of the Messiah who died for us; the hyssop depicts the astringent cleansing and purification of His sacrifice, removing all sin. “Purge me with hyssop,” David prayed, “and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow” (Psa.51:7). The "scarlet" depicts the red blood, the source of life. The life of flesh is the blood (Gen.9:4). God says: “For the life of the flesh is in the blood . . . it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul” (Lev.17:11).** The blood** of the Messiah, poured out for us, atones for our lives.

The facts are that the Temple of God cannot be rebuilt without he sacrifice of a red heifer. Nor could a priesthood function unless each priest is sprinkled with the ashes of a red heifer, mixed with water from the pool of Siloam. Also, many believe that Messiah cannot come until a Temple is rebuilt.

Therefore, to start this sequence of events, there must first be a red heifer which meets the halachic requirements which can be sacrificed! No red heifer, then no sanctified priesthood, and no Temple – and therefore no Messiah! The Search for the Ashes of the Last Red Heifer.

The last red heifer sacrificed by the Jewish priesthood was killed shortly before the Jewish rebellion against the Romans which began in 66 A.D. The ashes of the heifer, along with treasures of the Temple, and Temple artifacts, were then removed for safe-keeping and hidden in a place of security.

According to many rabbis, the ashes of the last red heifer slain as a sacrifice must be combined with the ashes of a new red heifer sacrifice, in order to purify the location for the new Temple, the priesthood, and the nation of Israel. J. R. Church, in his article “The Search for the Ashes of the Red Heifer,” in Prophecy in the News magazine (May 1997 issue), relates that archaeologist Vendyl Jones is currently embarked on an effort to find the ashes of the last red heifer sacrificed in Israel." Taken from triumphpro.com/red-heifer-harbinger.pdf

"The Awesome Symbolism of the Red Heifer

The red heifer pictured the sacrifice of God’s “only begotten Son,” Jesus Christ, Yeshua the Messiah (John 3:16). The femaleness of the sacrifice pictured Christ as the perfectly submissive sacrifice. The colour “red” of the sacrifice pictured His being fully and completely “human,” having partaken of human nature (John 1;14; Heb.2:14). The very name “Adam” or “man” in Hebrew means “red,” or "ruddy." The red heifer was sacrificed very rarely, and its ashes served to purify so long as they existed, until they ran out. Even so, Jesus Christ “offered one sacrifice for sins for ever”

(Heb.10:12); we are “sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all”

(v.10), “For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified” (v.14).

The red heifer was also led up to the Mount of Olives, outside the city of Jerusalem, to be sacrificed. “Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without [outside] the gate. Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach” (Heb.13:12-13).

Like the red heifer, Jesus Christ was actually led from the Temple porticoes to the Mount of Olives, where He was slain for our sins, in full view of the Temple itself. The Roman centurion at the crucifixion of Jesus “saw the earthquake, and those things that were done” (Matt.27:50-54), including the rending of the Temple veil, or massive curtain, from his vantage point at the crucifixion site. This means he must have been standing on the Mount of Olives, just east of the Temple Mount, the only point outside the city where the entrance to the Temple, and the veil, would have been visible.

What a perfect picture the red heifer offering is of Christ, the Son of God without blemish or spot, who “became sin * for us, who knew no sin, that we might become the
righteousness of God through him” (II Cor.5:21)."* Taken from same manuscript above.

 Marywel Nothing prevails over God Not No one, Not No how.And a Christain is one who believes in the Gospel of Christ the Word of God and Prayer, and non Catholic’s do those things to.I do not believe in Myth the bible is not a Myth and the Moslem Church began the same time as the Catholic did.Check it out. Nancy:thumbsup:
JL: Hi Nancy, I have been busy else where. Doing some catchup reading today. Your remark about the Moslems is way off. Unless you believe someone other than Mohammad founded that group. Moslems were not around untill the six hundreds which would be the seventh century.

Nor could a priesthood function unless each priest is sprinkled with the ashes of a red heifer, mixed with water from the pool of Siloam. Also, many believe that Messiah cannot come until a Temple is rebuilt.
JL: I enjoyed your post:thumbsup: I was struck that many believe the Messiah cannot come until a Temple is rebuilt and I think I read that some believe there will be three Temples.

My thoughts were the 3rd Temple is being built by the Son of David, Christ. When the last living stone is in place he will return.

For even they who were scornful on that day of small beginnings shall rejoice to see the select stone in the hands of Zerubbabel.

very interesting connected to the Jews and the witnesses in rev.
What are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you are but a plain. He shall bring out the capstone amid exclamations of ‘Hail, Hail’ to it." (Zech 4:7)

The temple of God that was then being built on the ruins covering Zion prefigures the Church of Christ being built on the ruins of the second temple ruins.

**Jesus answered and said to them, “Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up.” The Jews said, “This temple has been under construction for forty-six years, and you will raise it up in three days?” But he was speaking about the temple of his body. (John 2:19-21)

The chief priests and the entire Sanhedrin kept trying to obtain false testimony against Jesus in order to put him to death, but they found none, though many false witnesses came forward. Finally two came forward who stated, “This man said, ‘I can destroy the temple of God and within three days rebuild it.’” (Mat26:59-61)

Come to him, a living stone, rejected by human beings but chosen and precious in the sight of God, and, like living stones, let yourselves be built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For it says in scripture: “Behold, I am laying a stone in Zion, a cornerstone, chosen and precious, and whoever believes in it shall not be put to shame.” Therefore, its value is for you who have faith, but for those without faith: “The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,” and “A stone that will make people stumble, and a rock that will make them fall.” They stumble by disobeying the word, as is their destiny. (1 Pet 2:4-8)

Now you are Christ’s body, and individually parts of it. (1 Cor 12:27)**

I don’t know if our Lord said anything about a physical temple being rebuilt. Perhaps it is mentioned in prophecies in the OT or else in the Talmud.

Pax,
SHW
I don’t believe it will happen. I think the final temple was destroyed in the first century. Jesus has replaced the Temple with His body- including the saints in heaven and on earth.

**“All that you see here–the days will come when there will not be left a stone upon another stone that will not be thrown down.” (Luke 21:6)

"When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, know that its desolation is at hand. Then those in Judea must flee to the mountains. Let those within the city escape from it, and let those in the countryside not enter the city, for these days are the time of punishment when all the scriptures are fulfilled. (Luke 21:20-22)

And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. (Luke 21:27)

“This man said, ‘I can destroy the temple of God and within three days rebuild it.’” The high priest rose and addressed him, “Have you no answer? What are these men testifying against you?” But Jesus was silent. Then the high priest said to him, “I order you to tell us under oath before the living God whether you are the Messiah, the Son of God.” Jesus said to him in reply, “You have said so. But I tell you: From now on you will see ‘the Son of Man seated at the right hand of the Power’ and ‘coming on the clouds of heaven.’” (Mat 26: 61-64)**

If it is re-built it appears that it will be re-destroyed, in order for the New Jerusalem to come down from heaven. (If you take the book literally)

Then I was given a measuring rod like a staff and I was told, "Come and measure the temple of God and the altar, and count those who are worshiping in it. But exclude the outer court of the temple; do not measure it, for it has been handed over to the Gentiles, who will trample the holy city for forty-two months. (Rev 1:1-2)

The great city was split into three parts, and the gentile cities fell. But God remembered great Babylon, giving it the cup filled with the wine of his fury and wrath. (Rev 16:19)

**they cry out: “Alas, alas, great city, wearing fine linen, purple and scarlet, adorned (in) gold, precious stones, and pearls. In one hour this great wealth has been ruined.” Every captain of a ship, every traveler at sea, sailors, and seafaring merchants stood at a distance and cried out when they saw the smoke of her pyre, “What city could compare with the great city?” They threw dust on their heads and cried out, weeping and mourning: “Alas, alas, great city, in which all who had ships at sea grew rich from her wealth. In one hour she has been ruined. Rejoice over her, heaven, you holy ones, apostles, and prophets. For God has judged your case against her.” A mighty angel picked up a stone like a huge millstone and threw it into the sea and said: "With such force will Babylon the great city be thrown down, and will never be found again. (Rev 18:16-21) **

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth. The former heaven and the former earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. I also saw the holy city, a new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. (Rev 21:1-2)

And heaven forbid animal sacrifice is reinstated. That would certainly be an abomination in the eyes of God.

JL: Hi Nancy, I have been busy else where. Doing some catchup reading today. Your remark about the Moslems is way off. Unless you believe someone other than Mohammad founded that group. Moslems were not around untill the six hundreds which would be the seventh century.
