On a similar note is the Jimmy Stewart film *Shenandoah *in which he and his family unsuccessfully try to avoid any involvement in the Civil War. The final scene can really get the waterworks going. :crying:I’m surprised no one has mentioned Friendly Persuasion - a favorite with our kids. Gary Cooper is a Quaker husband, father and homesteader trying to lead a good life during the Civil War. Beautiful scenery, humor for the kids, and thoughtful treatment ,without prejudice, of war and conscience.
I agree with you 100% on Shenandoah!! I completely forgot to include this movie in my list. It is one of my absolute favorites. On a similar note is the Jimmy Stewart film Shenandoah in which he and his family unsuccessfully try to avoid any involvement in the Civil War.
