What is God?

I don’t know how the Universe exists and I don’t pretend to know how it does.
Then you sure are not an educated Atheist lol

You are no different than most uneducated people about religion, which is very hilarious.

You are the one claiming knowledge, and the attack you’re taking on backing up that claim is not making a believer out of me. In fact, I really don’t get where you’re coming from at all with all this Star Trekesque psychobabble…
Psychobabble? This is philosophy, my friend. Not “Star Trek”.

:confused::confused:

And you know this how?
Once again, I am not claiming the same Biblical Christian God that many Bible readers believe in, but yes Jesus was in fact 100% “God.”

Some things about Jesus that I have posted in “Is there a Soul” thread.
The only documented case of a man who reached the pure perfection of uncovering the Spirit, and for this he was known as the Son of God because he was a perfected soul, meaning that the Spirit which is the force of God was pure in him, and we all know this man as Yeshua Ben Yoseph, or as he’s more commonly known Jesus the Christ. He only needed one last incarnation to learn some specific lesson for his Soul to completely unfold leaving only the Spirit making up his personality, and it is why he was able to perform such amazing miracles because as I said, the Spirit is God Himself essentially and is able to alter the illusion we call reality.
Jesus was not “God incarnate” anymore than we are all God incarnate. The difference is that Jesus is the only man recorded to have achieved complete Godhead so that his soul was absolutely pure, giving him the power of God. We will all reach this state, and there are a few others who have reached it as well but they are not well known like Jesus.

Accepting Christ to save your soul does not mean believing Jesus was God incarnate, it means attaining the Christ state in order to purify yourself so that you may “enter the Kingdom of Heaven” by dissolving your individuality back into the Primordial Light once you have reached perfection of the soul.

When one reaches a certain point, you are able to dissolve your individuality back into the Primordial Light, merging with God basically experiencing a level of Infinite bliss. You do not have to do this however, and you may choose to continue incarnating to help the race evolve towards perfection/Christ/Godhead. Also, after one reaches perfection and dissolves the individuality, it is not a loss of self so to speak, because as I explained, the Spirit of the race is one power made up of God’s essence

Couldn’t you just give a straight answer to a simple question?

So you claim knowledge of where the Universe came from?

Let’s hear some empirical data then?

Or could it just be that far from being uneducated, I am just not quite so stuffed with conceit and such a bombastic idiot that I think I have knowledege of the unknowable like certain other people claim to have around here?

My point exactly. One will never understand if you think simple answer to a simple question.

Even Jesus’ parables seem “simple to understand” at first glance, but they are much deeper then many people believe.

Ah yes, philosophy. The discipline of the person who has been thoroughly routed from geuine academia.
If “genuine academia” leads you to not expect philosophy in a philosophy section, it’s not too great either is it?

Some questions have to be answered by philosophy, it is the foundations of logic, science and pretty much all subjects, as well as the answer to questions other subjects cannot answer. Not only is philosophy before, but also it is after science; in that the Logic of Epistimology makes a base for scientific enquiry, and when science fails, Metaphysics (beyond physics) takes up the torch and tackles the big questions.

“What is God” is not a simple question, there is no simple answer.

We should employ no distinction as to the existence of a thing, or its nature, for this is in vain, until we have a concept of what we know to exist – philosophy provides this.

You don’t even present claims of Ether and “notes” of the universe.

Obviously you do not study scientific hypotheses and theories, so why argue other peoples arguments. You have already stated you have no idea, so just leave it at that.

Your mind is stuck on why questions. Why was a universe banged into existence, why are the laws the way they are, why is anything the way it is, what is the purpose of the Absolute making imperfect manifestations when He is the only Perfect thing being complete. I, nor anyone in the entire Universe can tell you the real answer to these questions, because to answer why something behaves a certain way, you must be able to exist outside of it, or be the thing itself.

The foundations of science… Philosophers are still arguing, with unnecessarily long words, the same points they were three thousand years ago. It has not advanced our species one iota in that time.

While science and engineering have been reshaping the World, philosophers still haven’t settled on whether a strawberry has taste, colour or smell or not.

As the man said, give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum strong enough and I’ll move the world. Good luck to philosophers trying to move the world with hot air.

Both of these claims have been obviated. I don’t present them because they are falsified.

None of us have any idea, you and your iron aged, trogladyte ilk least of all… I’m simply curoius why you think you do, and your answers have been very amusing indeed.

Does it indeed… Do tell?

Science presupposes logic and the scientific method.

Science, in any modern sense could not have ever come into existence without philosophers first defining what logic is, and inventing the scientific method. The same is true for engineering.

No they have not been obviated, because science can not “disprove” what is in “nothingness” because we do not have the capability to.

Einsteins theory allows for “Ether” or “Dark Matter,” whatever you want to call it, because actual “nothingness” does not exist.

I was once the atheist you were, so please do not think that my “caveman” ideas are fallacy.

I agree with the other posters. The problem is expecting simple answers. We try and give answers, and you reject them for not being simple enough.

The most basic explanantion is that God is the Greatest Conceivable Being. But explaining what the Greatest Conceivable Being is is not an answer that can be suitably compressed in a forum.

God is like trying to explain something that is infinitely small or infinitely big. At some point you reach a point where you can go no further, but that of course, is not the end point.

You don’t even understand basic scientific precepts and you call me uneducated?

It makes not odds what science cannot disprove. The burden of proof is on a person making a claim, not the person who is skeptical of it. This is why science is a superior system to philosophy. In science, if you can’t prove something, it is thrown out until you can. I don’t have to entertain “ether” nor “dark matter” until someone can establish their existence. So far no one has, and until they do it is my duty to suspend my belief.

I put it to you that there is a tea pot in orbit around Neptune.

Do you believe me? Of course not.

Can you “disprove” that my teapot is there? Of course not.

Simple common sense heuristics should tell you that my claim is too extraordinary to take seriously unless I can back it up with irrefutable evidence. I cannot, so you are within your rights to point out the claim is absurd.

Entia non sunt multiplicanda preter necessitatum. Numquam ponenda est pluralitas sine necessitate.

I reject them for not being quantitative.

Let me rephrase:

What height is God?
What weight is God?
What colour is God?
What components is God built out of?
What is God’s energy source?
From whence did God appear?
