You didn’t demonstrate to me that physical reality was not merely an appearance. Thus it is dishonest to then claim that we must think that physical reality is synonymous to reality. Why? The only certain knowledge that we have is our minds. The dishonesty of your position is made clear when earlier you was willing to question the existence of time.

I tell you what, you can stay in your delusion that science is the only method of gaining true knowledge.

You keep chopping and changing to suit yourself.

Please don’t respond to this as i will not be responding.
Perhaps you won’t respond, but I can’t possibly let it end there without adding a couple of observations.

I operate on the assumption that reality is real and objective. Until I see some evidence to the contrary, a glitch in the Matrix if you will, I will continue to operate on that assumption.

As it happens, I was not willing to question the existence of time, I was backed into a corner and forced to conceed that I cannot describe nor demonstrate what time is. That is very different from questioning it’s existence. I accept the existence of time because without it physical reality would not exist.

I keep chopping and changing? I’m not aware of that. You are demanding answers of me that no human being can give, and I am doing my level best to be accomodating. I’m not being dishonest with you, I’m trying to accomodate you.

Ok, what did I say then?

At least I have the humility not to pretend I can learn doctorate science from Google. 🤷
Ahhh and here we see YOUR ignorance for EVERY good academic appreciates that they should always put there point across in the most understandable manner. Every wannabe tit talks in big words to try to disguise their ignorance.

The creator of this thread is just “trolling”. He is merely rehashing the sophomoric arguments of richard dawkins in “the God delusion”. i’ve read some of his other posts and he is just parroting him (richard) verbatim. so much for “free thought” in secular culture.

What?

Given that I haven’t even read the God Delusion that’s quite an allegation from you and it would be quite a feat from me, so I’d like you to show me precisely which passages I’ve lifted from it. Let’s see some of the passages that I’ve quoted or I’ll report you to the forum administrators.

If that’s all you have to add to this, I’d also suggest you have a think about which one of us is the troll, since this drivel does nothing to address any points made by anyone.

Don’t worry overmuch about that. This entire thread is a fair approximation of irrelevant drivel (IMO of course). The only “points” made are imaginary “I’m smarter than you” scores notched, in whatever passes in them for their own minds, by the only two guys dueling here.

But that was before Dosto showed up, sorely needed, like a breath of fresh methane in a sewer pipe, on a thread where not even the OP can stay on topic.

Reviewers of or posters to this thread are recommended to not alert the moderator to its paucity of value, lest the thread be closed and its two primary posters be loosed, free of this distraction, to post elsewhere and ruin other potentially useful threads.

if science suggests that “nothing” can not actually exist, does that mean it presents the argument that time has always existed as well?

was there ever a time without time?

I wouldn’t dream of pretending to know that…

God.
  1. the one Supreme Being, the creator and ruler of the universe.
  2. the Supreme Being considered with reference to a particular attribute: the God of Islam.
  3. ( lowercase ) one of several deities, esp. a male deity, presiding over some portion of worldly affairs.
  4. ( often lowercase ) a supreme being according to some particular conception: the god of mercy.
  5. Christian Science . the Supreme Being, understood as Life, Truth, love, Mind, Soul, Spirit, Principle.
  6. ( lowercase ) an image of a deity; an idol.
  7. ( lowercase ) any deified person or object.
Of course the very word ‘God’ doesn’t quite explain His full significance within Christianity. Nontheless, God is the one whom believers in God, claim created the universe…in it’s design and spectacle.
To Christians, He is the I AM, the one who called the Isrealites out of Egypt, made a covenant with the descendants of Abraham, gave the Ten Commandments to Moses, and promised them a Messiah, a savior. He is the one who from all eternity was a Trinity of Persons: Father, Son, Holy Ghost. He was the one who ‘sent’ His living Word, the Son, to become Man to teach us, to make the New Covenant with all the world, and to innocently die for the sins which make us guilty, and was risen after 3 days, who established a Church for all people to be saved until He comes again in Glory, and who judges all souls, mens and angels, and is King of the universe.

In Essence, Our God is the One who revealed Himself, made us promises, and kept them.
If a more suitable answer is needed for you, I really don’t know how to give one, because our God cannot be measured or weighed or expressed in scientific terms, other than Grand Design.

God is LOVE. God is the Ultimate reality and the Ultimate perfection. God IS

I believe in Spinoza’s God who reveals himself in the** orderly harmony of what exists**, not in a God who concerns himself with the fates and actions of human beings.
Einstein is an effing genius

Dear Moonstruck888:
You are lucky, I think God is looking for you.
Go to a good bookshop, buy and read:
“THEOLOGY and SANITY” , by FRANK J. SHEED
God loves you…

never mind there was a starting point for time. if time was a constant than special and general relativity wouldn’t work.
So, General and Special Relativity work, therefore God exists.

Is that your argument?
