That’s what was so shocking to me right when I walked in and saw this big wreath right in the center of the altar where the cross use to be.
Wait… so did they take the Cross down to put up the wreath? That’s very odd and obviously not a wise decision. It’s not necessary a wrong decision, but it’s surely not a wise decision and frankly does send the wrong message.

NOTE: The priest may or may not have had a hand in this decision. Sometimes the decorators have a little too much power or latitude.

I would suggest you speak to your pastor if you are still bothered by this.

As for the visions of Fatima, they are private revelation and we can choose to believe or not. If we believe, the visions could have been visions of the end of time, they were not necessarily time stamped.
Choose to believe what you will, but Our Lady of Fatima was very clear when she said “You have seen Hell, where the souls of poor sinners go.”

That is true BUT you are skating on thin ice if a priest says God is love and there is no hell. They are screwed up in their theology. God is love you but if you don’t obey His Comments in the end you will be separated from him like Jesus tells us in Matthew 25:32 and all the nations will be assembled before him. And he will separate them one from another, as a Shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.

Jesus himself talked about hell using the word Gahanna Mark 9:43. This is not a figurative place it is real. And yes there is Fatima a private revelation but there are also others from Saints that show not only laity but clergy is also there. Because of they hands that were glowing mean they once were holy men. Yes since it private you can choose to believe or not believe.

I side with the Catholic Church. If a person is in mortal sin and has not confessed at the time of death he will go to his eternal punishment. Now this is church teaching.
CCC 1033-1037

1035 affirms the existence of hell. For those who or in a state of mortal sin. So if there is the existence of hell then there are some people that will not accept God. Just as at the beginning of time Lucifer did not accept God and pride separated him from God forever. He was the brightest angel among Gods’army until he wanted to exalt himself above God.

The reason I bother with this is my heart I think is in the right place. I want to see all of humanity to see the face of God. Paul traveled hundreds of miles on foot all over the Mediterranean trying to convert Souls to Catholicism so did others as well. A lot of people died for the faith.
God bless you all!

Well the pastor is the shepherd of his flock. He should know and have final say of what is going on in the church that includes the decor of his church and to me taking down the crucifix and putting a wreath sends a bad message. Not only to Catholics who are on the fence but Catholics who have just entered the Church. God bless

True, but priests are human too. Not all priests are good at managing staff and/or volunteers. Some priests fear saying no to volunteers.

Pray for our priests and feel free to discuss this with him in a very respectful manner. Sometimes, the only complaints priests hear are from people not defending orthodoxy within the parish.

And it for was Father’s idea or he was 100% in approval, still pray for him.

God Bless

I have a question? Are we supposed to evangelize. Tell when there is something wrong in the church. Help out fellow Christians see that the Catholic Church is the one true church. I’m not saying to beat them over the head with a Bible. But when you see something wrong in the church. That you should speak up.

Or should we just stay silent. Then when a person comes up to you and says he doesn’t believe in God or that he is a god like someone said to me. That you shouldn’t minister to them about Jesus Christ then pray for them and maybe they might follow him. I think that’s the main reason God put us here for to love each other to pray for one another and to lead people to God.

Of course we are supposed to evangelize. And of course we should speak to our priests when there is something wrong (or if we believe something is wrong). And if necessary, we should contact our Bishops.

But at the same time, we need to pray for our priests so they have the courage, wisdom, and grace to fulfill their calling.

God Bless.

Tell when there is something wrong in the church
But there isn’t actually anything WRONG at your parish. You may disagree with the Christmas decorating choices, but there isn’t actually anything WRONG.

You need to understand the difference between something that is actually wrong and something that is simply not the choice you would make. To accuse your priest of doing something WRONG is very serious. He did not do anything “wrong”.

Right!

@0104 the choice of a priest might not be a wise choice, but just because a choice is unwise doesn’t automatically make it “wrong.”

As I’ve said before, if this is truly bothering you, speak your priest (with charity and love) or write him a respectful letter.

Respect is most important, because if you don’t use respect, it will most likely go in one ear and out the other. And if you write a letter, sign it. Many priests and bishops place unsigned letters directly in the circular file.

Also, if you have a close relationship with any parish staff members or parish council members, perhaps you could first ask them about the situation (again with respect).

God bless

First off I said before I have a very good Priest I don’t think ill of him are condemn him. I have my opinion that the crucifix should have not been taken down. This is not my house are your house it is the Lord’s house and to take down the crucifix that is in the center of the altar that the priest bows to away is in my opinion wrong. Whenever the altar servers the deacon and the priest or standing in the front of the altar they are looking up at the crucifix that reminds us of his suffering and death. To have them now to look at a wreath is wrong in my opinion.
