What is one of your favorite passages in the Bible and why?

I looooove that verse that says that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us with “groans that cannot be expressed.” Can’t remember the reference for it, though. Do any of y’all? Hmm, groans that cannot be expressed . . . what a concept! :signofcross:

I love St. Peter’s reaction when he hears that it is the lord. I can only imagine that his heart was beating a little faster when Jesus told them to cast the net to the right side of the boat. I wonder if it brought back memories when Jesus first called them. I can also imagine our Lord standing on the shore with a smile and eagerly anticipating to share breakfast with his beloved disciples. Then St. Peter hearing that it was the Lord, sprung out of the boat in haste and swimmed to the shore while the other disciples were probably jokingly saying, oh no, here he goes again remembering the time when they were in the midst of the storm and St. Peter went off the boat to walk to the Lord. His reaction to me is complete love and I can only imaging how his heart was burning for the Lord since he couldn’t bear to wait for the boat to reach the shore.
 
The Bible verse that wasn’t:

“And this, too, shall pass.”

I thought this was a Bible verse but found out today when I was trying to find it in the Bible that it is not in there!

Even though it is not a Bible verse, it still is true. “This” may not “pass” until I die, but it will pass when I die. It has always comforted me when things seemed to be unbearable.

One of my other favorites is “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Matthew 16:24-25 sums up for me the path to holiness:

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.”
 
I like the one in Joshua 1:9

Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."
 
Revelation 6:1-8

The passage presenting the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse is the greatest import from the Bible to my mind.
