Speaking of ORIGIN not customs and beliefs: Both men went up to a mountain to pray, both came down with a book from an angel. What is the authority? Both are confusions.

St. Paul "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed."

Mormons do not make a lifetime pilgrimmage to the Kaaba. Muslims do not get married in structures known as "temples’ reserved only to faithful members of their religion.

Mormons believe the Holy Bible is Scripture alongside of their unique revelations. Muslms believe the Qu’ran is Scripture in place of the Bible.

Mormons do not observe Ramadan or Eid ul-Fitr: they observe Christian holidays like Easter and Christmas.

Radical Mormon extremists do not believe in suicide bombings.

Just a few of the distinctions which come readily to mind.

A lot of LDS beliefs are quite… unorthodox. But, they believe in Jesus and believe He is the Savior. Muslims, however, believe Jesus was a prophet, but don’t quite believe He is the Son of God.

Please, correct me if I’m wrong-- I can’t stress that enough because I’m still a little fuzzy on Islam.

But I do know where you’re coming from. The two faiths do have a lot in common. I strongly suggest you research these two faiths in detail for a better understanding on the major differences.

These are all customs, I’m referring to origins.

Another similarity:

Each allowed for himself a few more wives than Jesus wants him to have.

There are differences even here. The Book of Mormon was ‘translated by the gift and power of God’ from gold plates which themselves were records abridged and preserved by Divine inspiration from supposed early records of supposed early people-groups residing in the Americas prior to 300 AD.

The Pearl of Great Price is at least partly a religious history of the LDS Church, canonized because it gives the official version of Smith’s First Vision. Another portion was translated, allegedly, from Egyptian papyrii. Yet another portion is an inspired restoration of certain texts of the Old Testament, notably Genesis.

Only the D&C bears much resemblence to the way Muhammed revealed the Qu’ran.

By the way, the First Vision was of Jesus Christ and of God the Father–whereas Muhammed’s only visions to the best of my knowledge were of the Angel Gabriel. Smith’s D&C revelations came directly from the Holy Ghost, whereas Muhammed repeated (“recited”, which I think is the literal translation of the word “Qu’ran”) what Gabriel spoke to him.

There are just any number of distinctions to be made.

What is the difference between Catholicism and Islam? Both are equally apostate! 😃

What is the difference between Mormons and Islam?
Mormons claim they are Christians ( submitted to Christ -pbuh) ; Muslims submitted to God Almighty only . That’s the big difference 🙂

They share the same origin, whatever you might like to call it. What Muhammad did, Smith did, in the name of an “angel”.

So far different.
Islam come to restore the religion of god.
Mormon is just a copy of christian believes with some “add-on”.

Mormon are considered by Muslim as a sect, since they believe that Smith got a revelation from god.For Muslims, Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was the last one who will receive revelation from God.

The greatest difference between Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and Joseph Smith is the proof of prophethood that they brought to the world.

I don’t wear any masks. I tell it like it is. Some people like it, some don’t! 😛

I can’t speak for Muhammad; but what Smith did was in the name of God.

Mormons believe in this as well as they claim a huge apostacy. “Restoring” is the cliche used by any self-proclaimed prophet . . .
Care to name some, since you seem to know so many?
. . . yet no one restores like the other, ironically, but all have an “angel” to rely on.
You mean like the angel that appeared to Abraham (Genesis 22:11, 15), or to Jacob (Genesis 28:12; 32:1), or to Moses (Exodus 3:2), or to Joseph and Mary, and Jesus and His Apostles?

How about the similarities?

Neither believe in the real God.

Both have authoritative extra-biblical revelation.

Both believe in polygamy; the Mormonoid lack of it is only suspended pro-tem.

Both start with M.

i said “any” and this applies to Muhammad, Smith, Ghulam Ahmad and the rest of who claim to be a prophet or Jesus Himself.
