In galatians the author says if you get the Gospel wrong let him be accursed!

What is the Gospel?

Read Paul’s words in Galatians 1. If anyone has the wrong Gospel, they are under the curse of God. Gospel means good news…so there must be bad news. Gospel has something to do with going to heaven. What do Catholics teach the Gospel is. What is it. What do we have to do about it.

I see different answers from Catholics and Reformed Christians. (Like the guys at www.aomin.org)

Thanks.

I believe Paul is referring to the Judaizers. They wanted the Galatians to be circumcised and keep the law. (Gal 6:12-13). But as Paul explains: 'God sent forth His Son, born of women, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as Sons (Gal 4:4-5). This is the Gospel.

The Israelites were under a divine curse for breaking the Mosaic covenant, and Jesus took that curse upon Himself on the Cross, and fulfilled the promises made to Abraham, to bless all the nations through him.

The ‘New Law’ or the ‘Law of the gospel’, is called a law of love because it makes us act out of the love infused by the Holy Spirit, rather than from fear, a law of grace because it confers the strength of grace to act, by means of faith and the sacraments, a law of freedom, because it sets us free from the ritual and juridical observances of the Old Law, inclines us to act spontaneously by the prompting of charity and, finally, lets us pass from the condition of a servant who ‘does not know what his master is doing’ to that of a friend of Christ - ‘For all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you’ - or even to the status of son and heir (Jn 15:15, Jas 1:25, 2:12, Gal 4:1-7, 21-31, Rom 8:15). For Paul the ‘gospel’ is a :"force for salvation (Rom 1:16), emanating from Christ, who is not divided (1 Cor 1:13). there can be only one gospel. This Paul has ALREADY proclaimed to them. 👍

The Gospel is the good news that the Creator of all that exists has sent His son to pay the price of your sin. This is a gratuitous offering to mankind, but it is not without cost. To avail yourself of the benefits of the good news, you must first deny yourself, take up your cross daily, then follow Jesus. Do this faithfully, and you will inherit eternal life and need never fear death again.

The Gospel is the Good news of God’s mercy to sinners in Jesus Christ, in it’s most basic form. It can be expressed in a number of ways.

The bad news that you alluded to is that human beings fell in adam and have the taint of original sin, as well as a tendency to sin. The gates of heaven are closed to us naturally, we are in desperate need of God’s grace.

The Good news is that Jesus came to remedy our sad condition by giving his life as a ransom for our sins so that humans might be made sons of God through the outpouring of His Spirit.

“Gospel” means “good news”. Using that definition, the Gospel of Jesus is that through his suffering, death, resurrection and ascension the human race has been redeemed from sin and has the opportunity for eternal life with God in Heaven.

The “good news” (gospel) is that God is real. He loves His creatures. He sent His son to tell us the truth and show us the way to the Father. To prove it is the truth, the Son was betrayed, tortured, hung on a cross, died, was pierced with a lance, buried in a strangers’ tomb and on the third day, rose from the dead, thus defeating Satan.
GOOD NEWS! If we follow Jesus, the gates of Heaven are opened for us!!!

I looked over your other posts ZIGGABITE.

Despite you describing yourself as no religion (“none”) what kind of a “church” do you “fellowship” at?

You seem to be very aware of Reformed theologians.

You seem to be able to give us a post for a Reformed website too.

Please give me several Catholic websites that you saw that gave “different” answers than the “Reformed” answers?

Then I can see what you are alluding to.

The reason I ask ZIGGABITE is some people try to veil “questions” on this website as an advertisement for their “religion” even when they don’t call it a “religion” (I am not saying YOU are doing that ZIGGABITE, I am just saying some people do).

I am not saying you are a troll ZIGGABITE, I am saying some people do this and don’t really want answers (but just want to “proclaim” their agenda on a Catholic website).

So go ahead and list three Catholic websites that have caused you confusion concerning what the “Gospel” is. I will look over those Catholic sites, and perhaps I will be better equipped to give you an answer to help clear your confusion as to what the Gospel is and what it is not ZIGGABITE.

God bless.
