There was not a large divide in theology though, the Orthodox Church separated because they disagreed with the authority of the Pope but kept much of their practice. After the Protestant Reformation there was a lot of stray from Church teaching and misinterpretation of the Scriptures.
How so, if you deny apostolic succession? Martin Luther “protested” the Church, he may not have wanted to start his own church but that’s what happened and if it was founded in the 1500’s and is called a separate name from the Catholic Church and is not in Communion with the Catholic Church, how does that make it so?
We don’t. The Confessions clearly state that it was the desire of the Evangelical Churches (Lutherans) to maintain AS. And some in Northern Europe did.
So, where was Luther and the Lutheran reformers “before” then? They were Catholic.
So where do you stand on papal authority if you understand that St. Peter was the first Pope and his 264th successor is Pope Benedict XVI? If Jesus established the authority, what give any man the right to decent that authority if he is Christian? Luther was Catholic, I get that, but who gave him the authority to remove books from the Bible and establish different teaching however minor?

No Jesus is not a liar. I am sure he would not like you indicating He is. You simply have an incorrect understanding of what that phrase means. Tell me about “Gates of Hell” and infallible church teaching again…how do you specifically make that connection?

I’m not sure what your question means? Many of those groups do not recognize the CC as a Church, if that is what you are asking.
I remember a comment made to me by a Protestant not long after I converted. He said of the Catholic Church, “They’re not very evangelical”. He was right too. It’s one of the church’s failings, at least in the West. The Protestants and the cults have seized the day there.
Youre wrong. Just because Catholics in the us aren’t loud and obnoxious with radio stations going from doorto door doesn’t mean we aren’t ministering to the far reaches if the earth in Africa and china And whatnot And helping the unfortunate.

I don’t think size matters. A split is a split, whether small or large. I think saying that the entire schism is over a disagreement over authority of the pope is a bit simplistic. And how much practice is kept does not make them any more untied with Rome.

I was obviously a lot more messed up. Christ calls us to go make disciples, thats what we are to do. But I for one am glad you are a Christian then. I will not begrudge conversions like some people. Jesus said, “Knock and it shall be opened to you” - not wait for someone else to knock and bring it to you.
