What is the problem with magic if it is not evil magic?

People can make things their god like money. The people had actually come from families who believed in many gods. The had just left a place that believed in many gods. They also were creating a god while Moses was getting the commandments. More gods were ‘real’ in the mind of the people. That does not mean they are real.

The problem with Magic, on top of not being able to prove any of it actually works to any sense of the degree. Is putting actual faith and trust into it. Like believing that because a priest blesses some organic oils, or salt that all of sudden these organic items have some kind of actual " mystical " or " magical properties " or like " holy water " would supposedly burn demons and vampires or some such nonsense. If such things actually worked, someone would have profited off it by now and have a company cranking out these things in bulk for people to use for a bunch of reasons.

Magic is occult. God says in His written Word, the Holy Bible, that we are not to involve ourselves in it.

Why are you trying to convince us that magic isn’t wrong? It goes against God.

Sorry. But curses can work. Remember how the pharaoh in exodus had priests that performed magic

I have Wiccan friends. I do believe that magic is real, and I believe that some very good people are dabbling with things that can get out of control. Every Wiccan friend I have knows someone who ventured into some area that was very dark and it caused damage to themselves.

In your other post, @hplunaphaedra, you mention Mary. I would suggest a couple of books for you.

Fulton J Sheen’s “The World’s First Love”

Pretty much everything by St Hildegard of Bingen (A Doctor of the Church)

And the works of Teresa of Avila (another Doctor of the Church)

This one is less than a dollar today for Kindle

The sale of sacramentals and relics is strictly forbidden for just this reason.

It seems that you may not believe that God works through material objects for supernatural results. It is a very Biblical concept.

Great recommendations! I don’t get the impression our high priestess is interested in doing any research for herself, though. She may be able to get one of her servants to read them and give her a report?

If you look at her profile, you’ll see she’s already been suspended. Can someone who’s been suspended even access the forums to read?

You do realize that our poster is a real person, she is a beloved child of God.

Yes, they simply cannot log in to post replies or private message people.

Thank you. Hopefully, she’ll see the recommendations and read them. Excellent books.

Is there some reason you thought I believed otherwise? It appears you have ascribed a quote to me here that belongs to another member.

But your statement got me thinking…if there are no other gods and goddesses, why would our Creator find a need for a commandment such as this?

Exodus 20:3 “you shall have no other gods before me”
It was not you I was responding to but the OP within your post. Not sure how your name is quoted.

As for Exodus God was talking about false gods. It does not mean there were/are other real gods (or goddesses. It was a warning not to worship false Gods.

Because: ‘st paul says in the New Testament: ‘do you not know the false gods they serve are actually demons and fallen angels?’

Magic is demanding something. Prayer is asking for something. I am not good or wise enough to demand something supernatural.
